I can't imagine that it's the fireworks that get them going. I'm hoping that's Potter sending them out with a point to prove. Those fireworks look tacky on screen. It should be up to the fans to create the atmosphere before kick off. I used to enjoy a rendition of Ring of Fire or the Fatboy songs that got played

I'm in the east upper.
I think it's naff but the kids probably love it.
It will be interesting if they continue it into the winter months.
At the moment the warm air clears it eventually.
But in midwinter that will not happen.

It is shit. I can't see how it generates atmosphere and if we need it to, it doesn't say much about our fans. Also the fact that it is in front of the family stand, with more kids and elderly suffering the affects of the smoke and bangs shows exactly what level of thinking went into it.

You’ll be moaning about kids in the Family Stand hearing bad language next. They love it!!

What a bunch of grumpy people NSC has

I find it quite sad (and embarrassing) that after a convincing win and being placed 3rd in the PL (ffs) some “fans” can’t wait to have a moan and question the club’s ability to risk assess something as simple as a 10 second pyro display.

You can easily ignore any thread you are offended by. Our play and position in the league are completely irrelevant to the subject.

It took about 10 minutes to clear from the West Upper, it's mildly unpleasant and obscures the view, pretty pointless from my perspective and I wish they'd stop. I keep seeing people mention kids loving it, my two (teenager and 21) think it's naff.

People complained about it at the Newcastle game. It's odd to criticize players and managers after a win, but others have done , but I'm not sure why this means nothing else can be critised. It's shit, adds nothing to the experience for any normal fan and makes it worse for some. And looks pretty odd when there's been a clampdown on people bringing stuff into the games

Good grief - loads on here regularly complain about the lack of atmosphere - the club try to something about it - and even that's wrong.

What annoys me the most is the sudden empathy for people with asthma. I have it but wasn't there yesterday. Didn't affect me at the Newcastle match though. It's strange that those that have a sudden concern for us with asthma didn't have the same concern when we didn't need to wear masks during Covid.

The fireworks didn’t help the atmosphere.

I’m mid-way up the East Lower.

I’m mildly asthmatic and whilst it didn’t affect my breathing very much, I was unable to give Sussex By The Sea my usual gusto and could hardly see the players coming onto the pitch. It did affect the back of my throat and was very uncomfortable.

The visibility was impaired for quite a while, too.

I’m glad I missed it at the Newcastle match (I was queueing at the water station). If it continues, I may have to tactically miss the teams coming out in future, too, which is a shame.

How do you know it's the same people?

And lack of atmosphere? The atmosphere is fine when the players score goals and win games.

They were absolutely rubbish. Filled the East Stand and pitch with smoke for ten minutes. Can’t imagine it’s great for the players breathing that in while trying to perform.
