Finance a striker

Lord Bracknell said:
Yet another instance of BensGrandad trying to hijack the management of the club from the people he wants to get rid of.
And he wants to tie up the Club's office staff in organising his "fundraising" scheme!

Somebody has posted my thread on ask the club for which I would thank them for trying to be clever and make me look stupid but it has backfired because I will honour it under the conditions that I have stipulated.

I do not make an offer that I cannot uphold, my love for this club and its continuation beyond 2007/8 season is too immense not to.

Please E mail me when you have the other 220 or so names.

Thanks for enlightening me on the hair brained scheme Lord B as I have BG on ignore.

The club ran an Alive and Kicking Appeal last year when fans could give anything from £5 to £250 or more. They only got £300,000 when they needed 2.5 million.
What on earth makes people think that fans are going to give anymore?

What she said, there is a point people will stop giving.

I wasn't the person who posted my thread on 'Ask The Club' in an attempt to try to ridcule me. I would have dealt with it in my own manner but no somebody had to try and show how clever they were but it has back fired as i will honour my pledge and have posted to Ask The Club in defence of my statement.

I am not asking them to 'organise my fund raising' so much so that I am considering writing a letter to The Argus to encourage others to buy an extra ticket rather than sit and watch us get relegated and bleat of how good a supporter I am to the ears of those at the club as happens witha lot of people.

The only drawback to this is that the NIMBYs should take it as another example of how broke we are and use it against us.

Totally different but I wouldn't expect you to realise that.

The alive & kicking fund was to pay the general expenses of the running of the business which is a responsibility of those who will profit from its sale if it ever gets sold for a profit. Whether or not it will is open to conjecture.

This is a simple idea that most people can afford that would enable the club to be able to pay the EXTRA money over and above their normal projected expenditure to pay for a striker to help keep us up.

Perhaps the idea will not go down well because I am suggesting it not one of the clubs arse lickers.

I have said on another thread that we need 220 people extra to buy a ticket to pay the wages of a proven goalscorer = £5k per week'
Why doesn't it surprise me that BensGrandad's figures don't add up?

There are 5 more home games.

Tickets cost £22.50 each.

220 people each paying £22.50 will bring in £4,950 per game (£24,750 between now and the end of the season).

There are 10 weeks left this season. If we pay this mythical striker £5,000 a week, Grandad's scheme will lose us £25,250.

I assumed, possibly wrongly, that the club had the money to pay the wages of a striker and my input would enable them to pay the extra that is required to get a proven goalscorer as opposed to an unknown unproven one.

ie. The club can afford £3k per week + another £5k = £8k means possibly a better more proven striker, or if the club can afford £5k per week so much the better.

Sorry if I did not make that clear.

Either way, you are claiming that your scheme will raise £5,000 a week. It won't. It will raise less than half of that.

are you implying mods are posting under your name in the ask the club forum?

If so that is actually bang out of order

If a Moderator had been behaving like that, it would, indeed, be bang out of order.

I've just checked the Admin log. No moderator or administrator was active behind the scenes at any time between 0825 this morning and 1605 this afternoon. BensGrandad's post on Ask the Club was posted at 1236.

If someone has logged in, using his User details, it wasn't a Moderator. All I can suggest is that BensGrandad tightens his own security.

For what it's worth, though, the post on Ask the Club came from the same IP Address as the first post on this thread.

I do not know enough about computers but if as it appears that someboy has logged in as me. How do they know my password?
LB I would be grateful if you could E Mail me with details of how I can tighten up the security or anybody else who knows how to do it.

ISP I can assure anybody100% that it wasn't posted by myself or anybody on my PC.

On the issue of buying tickets I inadvertently forgot to take in to account that all of the 10 games are not at home however I am still prepared to pay that same amount for 2 tickets that I will give to a young person who will be a supporter of the future. I will not shirk my responsibility and commitment.

This is not some high brained scheme to gain me recognition or similar but an effort to do my little bit towards bringing in a striker to help us stay up.

The whole crux of the matter is that if we sold out every seat we would gain sufficient extra income to be able to afford the wages of this striker and to assist this aim I will buy an extra 2 tickets but it is not worth me doing my bit if the club do not sign a striker and other supporters do not guarantee to buy the extra tickets.

BensGrandad. Am I right in the assumption, that we could all buy an extra ticket. If so I for one would think that not only the Inland Revenue could be interested, but also the football authorities.

Apart from the tax burden and VAT the club would incur, there must be some break of contract law.

What may be simpler is for a wealthy business person to give a one off gift to the club, so Dick and Martin can spend it in the correct manner. And forgive me in stating the bleeding obvious, but I have not heard of any of those dipping their hands in their voluptuous pockets.
