Okay so being just in front of the melee in the WSL this is what actually happened. The guy was having a pop at Hyppia and Jones and one of the track suited coaching staff or analyst started having a pop back at him. This then led to words between the 2 which followed track suit getting up coming up the guy (whilst swearing his head off) in an intimidating manner. Scuffle then broke out between these 2. The track suit had initials PW on. Stewards prised them apart and all calmed down for 5 minutes whilst lots of supervisors and mangers were seen chin wagging together. Then around 8 stewards waded in to pull the guy out and this is when the guy and his brother and Dad kicked off. The stewards were so heavy handed and basically caused the problem and the fistie cuffs. PW tracksuit just sat there with a grin on his face (and will no doubt get no further action taken against him) and the dad and brothers were escorted out.
Now I don't condone the fighting or some of the things that were said to Jones and Hyppia (although the guy was not swearing at them) however this whole incident was caused by PW tracksuit (a club employee) and the amateurish stewarding. If they had left the incident alone and spoken to the guy after the game none of this would have happened.

I was sat in the same row further down and that is how I saw it. way over the top

PW clearly should face some action.

For what its worth, I was told by a 1901 steward tonight, that if anyone who was abusive towards Hyypia, Barber or Burke, the stewards had been told to remove them and also remove any banners. Apparently Barber was furious that someone in West Stand Upper had a pop at him at the Fulham game and wanted them arrested. All hearsay, but that is as it was described to me.

So are we going to condemn the guy based on a rumour which will almost certainly turn out to be untrue like a lot of the others which are then used against him and used to build a case for wanting him out?

Thats why he'll continue - we let him and Jones off so lightly tonight. If the situation had been reversed and Millwall were in our situation their fans would've torn Hyypia and Jones to pieces - we let them off with barely a f**king murmur - we get what we deserve.

Point taken, but I was responding to the person saying that they can't believe people are backing Hyppia, and I was merely suggesting that isn't necessarily the case.

I also don't have a problem with protesting before, HT or after as such. Just during the actual 90mins I find that rough on the players who'll still be here regardless of who is in charge this season.

I really don't want this club to ever be like Millwall thanks.

There was no fighting in the North West corner not even handbags,just heated exchanges of opinion which will happen until we get back on track as a team.As for stewards being instructed to take down any protest banners,this is an infringement of free speech and the club should not believe that they are above the fans.Me I could see both sides of the argument and that is what football is all about,differing opinions.No two people see exactly the same game.

I think all clubs get round this on grounds of 'obstructing the view for other spectators'.

Obviously this rule is never applied for free flags, supporting banners and the like, but the same thing happens at Arsenal and other grounds and that is the rule they fall back on.

It's not about backing him, some people just don't like anything negative while the team are playing. I tend to agree.

I don't back him but I'm also not turning on him in the middle of a match and I can understand why doing that upsets people.

It reminds me of the troubles at the Goldstone and the boycotted match in protest.

An awful lot of fans were torn between boycotting, wanting to get Archer and co out but also between attending to support the team and i suspect there is a lot of this now where people want Hyypia gone but don't want to do anything that then affects the teams performance on the pitch. (loyalty to the team)

It wouldn't have stopped those facing that dilemma at the Goldstone from joining in the protests outside the ground, the marches in Mellor or whatever because it wasn't during the match

Over the seasons when we have played Millwall, our crowds have been lower than normal because a lot of parents will not take their young kids to this fixture because of the increased risk of trouble and a lot of seats in the family stand especially are left empty regardless of how well we are doing.

Larger numbers of Millwall fans to contend with and only likely to spark more trouble amongst the away section if they were to wade in. Most action as a result of this will take place after the match when CCTV footage is examined and the offenders traced.

I couldn't see why it took 5+ stewards to 'deal' with the guy in the lower west. They manhandled him to the ground and dragged him out. One of the female stewards totally lost the plot and was screaming at him; right in his face. It wasn't called for...but was more exciting than what was happening on the pitch lol

Watching on tv this is the first game that i thought looked like worth attending,sounded a bit like a football match at times!

do what I did when I see the light ,you can only be mugged off for so long believe me, sat in the pub and watched the game far more enjoyable experience personally

Fans fighting amongst themselves, stewards doing f all in the away end yet overreacting in the home end.

The stewards and police taking appropriate action in the South Stand wouldn't have looked very good on Sky.
