What about that Franco Massimo fella (made only 2-3 sub appearances, I think, after coming through the youth ranks in the mid/late 80s).

He was a Sussex sprint champion by all accounts (though I was only a young teen in those days and can't remember the details of fringe players from that era too well.

I remember standing in The North Stand and watching Jimmy Case chasing down an opposition c/f haring towards the South Stand goal and getting a yellow card for bringing him down (before the professional foul red card days). The actual sprint might have been only twenty yards though...

Correct answer, I think he was touted as being a (British) Olympic 100 metre prospect but chose football, at which he really was quite shit, but he was very very quick.

Shame he was so bad at football but alleged 10.2 for the 100m when he gave up sprinting for football!!

I once had tickets for the main stand and players bar at an way game. The game ended, there was some argy bargy at the end which I stayed around to watch. And then I walked up the stairs, down a corridor and into the players bar. Denny Mundee was already at the bar with a beer and a fag. That is fast. I must say that he looked a scruff bag, no tie, shirt undone and his shirt had wet patches over from where he had either not bothered to dry himself properly or he was still sweating as he has only been off the pitch for a few minutes. He sank the beer quick as well.

David Armstrong by a long chalk

Gotsmanov comes second over shorter distances and Peter Ward over even shorter distances.

Did he ever play there?

D'oh! Scored in the first game!
