Falmer fanatics suggestions

I notice on another thread some fello NSCR's have set a facebook page and are talking about starting a so called ultra section at Withdean and ofcourse at Falmer.

I thing it's a great idea and even if the numbers are low next season it should go a long way to creating a better atmosphere at Withdean.

Can I give a couple of suggestions perhaps?

Firstly, Not everyone likes it, and I suspect not everyone knows the words but would it be possible for the ultra section to sing GOSBTS in its entirety when the team comes out? Even if there was only 30 people singing it, waving flags I think it mght encourage others elsewhere in the ground to do so.

Secondly, IMO an Ultra section that got right behind the team with catchy and witty chants will not only put a smile on the faces of other supporters but will encourage other fans to join in but I believe many fans, myself included find that goading away fans can be a bit embarrassing, other Ultras from around the world sing about there rivals but focus most of their attention on getting behind their own team and generating atmosphere.

Finally, New songs! I know there are already plenty of popular songs BUT if it is the intention to sing throughout the game some of the old favourites are going to get tiresome very quickly. Perhaps a tune that is sung in a similar way to the tune Palace's ultras have adopted?

Hope it all goes well and hopefully it will become a section of the home support that fellow supporters are proud of and not a souce of embarrasment that i'm afraid to say H block can be guilty of.

Any other suggestions?

Like that's really going to happen

I'd like to think they'll give it a go. Let's face it, even if there was just 10 of them it would still create more atmosphere than we have at present. I'm sure plenty of others would join in if it looked like a laugh too?

No, no they won't, you see this is NSC where any attempts at trying anything different are almost certain to be shot down in flames as being either 'naff' 'American' 'Italian' 'cringeworthy' 'plastic' etc. etc.

Well i'm sure I don't need to tell you if the fans don't think of iniatives to drum up vocal support Falmer may end up like a morgue with only the odd flurry of clapping and seeeeagulls.

A dedicated singing section or Ultras section migh not be evryones cup of tea but surely no one can be against improving the general atmosphere of the stadium?

Perhaps if people are that intent on creating an atmosphere, maybe try continuing to sing when sat down instead of acting like it's a physical impossibility.

Even if the seated singing isn't as enthusiastic as the standing singing, it's surely still better than no atmosphere? If people are really intent on creating singing/ultra section than they are going to have to adapt.

As for being humorous and putting a smile on people's faces thus encouraging them to join in, be careful. A lot of people in H block seem to think they are funny, but they're not, they just piss off other people.

Palace's group of ultras are called the 'fanatics', so I think the name has to be changed.

Also, why can't someone just resurrect the Blue Brigade? They had great potential, had their own logo and a fair few banners made already. I believe their forum is still around somewhere. I'd be happy to run that if the founders aren't interested anymore, although I suspect they will be!

Don't take this the wrong way but i'm 27 i'd laughed at by my mates if I joined that group.

I've said it before though, i'll happily support it financially. If you can find a few people happy to flag bear, say one with a Club badge flag, one with the flag of Hove and one wih the flag of Brighton. I'll put some money forward.

Withdean's a lost cause really, it is what it is

Perhaps you are right but I ust think people hold this crazy notion that with Falmer we'll have a decent atmosphere straight away, it will certainly be better than Withdean but Brighton fans have got out of te habbit of singing at home if the fans are'nt proactive we could have a top class stadium with an atmosphere more at home at the stadiummk.

Speaking of witty chants, I came across this the other day and it made me laugh.

How about Falmer Massive or something like that?

Reading the re-grouping/re-branding thread on the Blue Brigade forum, 'North Stand Ultras' seems like the best alternative to me. Simple, easy to remember.

For this to work however, it really needs to be a group of dedicated people who are totally committed to the cause, rather than half arsed people more intent on winding up away fans, moaning at stewards etc. If we're serious about setting up a real ultras group, it'll involve putting on shows and displays, big flags and various other things. Fair play to the scum, they've done it before and arguably it looks quite good. So have York, so there is no reason why this can't work. I for one, am most certainly in.

I would definatly be up for helping out in any way i can,i know it wasn't everyones cup of tea but it was me and a few mates who brought the inflatables and balloons at the end of the season to just try and create an atmosphere,so i won't have a problem putting my hand in my pocket again to help get this going properly, just needs to be sorted out properly and organised.
