Way out west
:wrong: I assume you don't come from Brighton.

Err, no I don't and I haven't lived in Sussex since the mid 90's...I would hope that if we had been invaded a member of my family might have mentioned it in passing, though my parents did leave about six years ago, I am guessing it is possible they were driven out and are too ashamed to admit it.

True.

I must say though, you lot are keeping rather more quiet about WEST HAM's contribution to this England world cup campaign, aren't you?

Plus Lampard was crap so you can't even resort to the unthinkable, claiming him as a WH old boy. And Joe Cole didn't get on.

Yep, the mighty Hammers have done a marvellous job this time :lolol:

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
We haven't been invaded by another nation since 1066...if you are prepared to overlook the Germans taking the Channel Islands in WWII.
Not true... Henry IV in 1399? Henry Tudor in 1485? William of Orange and the Dutch in 1688? the French in 1216? Steven and Mathilda in 1139. There have been several invasions - not all very well known today.

Brighthelmstone was mostly burned to the ground by the French in 1514.

Only St Nicholas' Church, and the street layout of what is now the Lanes survives.

Apparently we produce the best goalkeepers in the world who also produce the best clangers in the world
