Another missed opportunity.The best team in the tournament won it. We muddled our way to the final and relied far too much on reactive moments than being proactive and perhaps believing in ourselves. The biggest error has been the persistence with Kane. In tonight's game at the very least he should not have come out for the second half.
The wait goes on!
Just like when we went 1-0 up in a Semi-Final against Croatia and sat back.
Just like when we went 1-0 up in a Final against Italy at home and sat back.
Same old manager = Same old story.
Having seen all the previous games, did we really expect different results when we played against a top side?

Spain have far, far better footballers. Ten outfield players with pace to burn, so relaxed and instinctive on the ball, simple passing triangles tearing any team apart. At 1-0 up 4 of them were pressing Pickford/Stones, hunting in packs. When was the last time we had several CM’s who play like matadors? Italy has 3 in CM at Euro 2021.
It would’ve been unfair on the sport if a collection of wooden passing-by-numbers players, plus Saka/Foden/Palmer had won the tournament.

We’ve all been spoilt watching the Albion have a pattern of play and producing exciting football. England on the other hand don’t have any identity and the so called ‘match winners’ were not at the races tonight.
Captain Kane doesn’t have the legs anymore, but Southgate played him upfront on his own. We looked so much better when Watkins came on but as always it’s too little too late.

With Steele and Verbruggen it’s an unerring long pass to any team mate on the pitch.
Pickford’s used to long punts to target man Calver-Diver in an arm wrestle with CB’s. Midfielders hoping to win scraps. A totally different concept and not good enough at the highest level.
It really was. When you think Albion's keeper probably kicked long aimlessly about 10 times all season, watching Pickford hoofing the ball up the field endlessly is a sad indictment on Southgate's tactics. In fairness to Pickford he's a good shot stopper.

What's even more frustrating is that that tournament will be considered a success by the media, they won't hound Southgate for getting it wrong. We were dogshit all tournament, it was pathetic. We were lucky, Slovenia should have knocked us out.
