Veltman is in the initial squad of 34 for Netherlands. I'm not sure Poland have announced theirs yet.

Agreed - love summer tournament football. 3 games a day for the first couple of weeks

With the BBC announcing that they are showing every game of the Copa America live, I think you'll find there are some days with FIVE games

I'd imagine I'm in a minority but I really can't get excited about this one.

It's one of those things where you started unexcited, and then a couple of games in you can find yourself experience that tingle of interest followed by the most dangerous feeling of all - a mix of hope and belief.

Oh good grief. Football is going to consume itself and Perez will get his own way. By saturating the market - especially with global football - it just plays into his narrative that there is a need for a global super league and that the big franchises are all the youngsters are interested in.

The BBC are weird. Their pundits come out attacking the ESL, but on their website you are more likely to see reports about Barcelona than the fight for promotion from League 1.

Belgium’s last chance in my eyes. Would make them my bet.

Denmark as a shout for surprise of the tournament is very good. Depends on their run and a bit of luck. Similar to Poland (provided their star striker is fit) could certainly beat anybody.

Yep, can't chuffing wait for this one. As you say, the tournament is absolutely WIDE open and there are tons of matches to salivate over.

That said, I THINK THIS COULD BE BELGIUM'S YEAR.

One thing I'm not a fan of is the 3rd places qualifying - could mean less drama at the final group game, more dead rubbers. I like the harshness of just 2 teams through. Playing all those games just to lose 1 team out of 4 feels like overkill.

I wonder if there should be a separate thread entitled:-

'Albion Players at the Euros'

As The Tross would appear to also be going.

I can't wait to only be really excited about this tournament the night before England get knocked out.

Totally agree.

When it's two go through, you know if you lose the first game, you're on the brink. You get that tension right from the off. Much less tension with the safety net of a third place.

If you were designing a 24 team tournament from a football point of view, rather than to make money, you'd have one to qualify automatically each from the 6 groups and a couple of next best spaces up for grabs.

Though better would be to reduce it back to 16 teams

Why are we always too short odds for these things? I'd put us about 4th/5th favourites.

Who is going to win?
England 9/2

France 11/2

Belgium 6/1 - tempted to get on this

Spain 13/2

Germany 15/2

Portugal 15/2
