The other thing to think about the Sri Lanka tour is where to bat Pope. Personally, I'd prefer Pope batting with the top order and Stokes with the tail. Pope 5 and Stokes 6 for me

These two don’t even look like getting out, I’d certainly start sweating a little more if they can get to around 250/2, despite Du Plessis form he is the exact sort of player you want in this situation he’s built for this.

Any of the above would give them a chance, but it's still a small chance.

I'm actually of the point of view that world cricket needs a strong South Africa, we don't have enough teams to lose a decent one, so I'm enjoying seeing them make a game of it. Hope they fall just short

See, this is what good teams do to win test matches. Nothing happening in the bowling department, then Wood roughs up VDD, some words exchanged with Du Plessis and 10 minutes later they're both back in the hutch.

But high quality fast bowling also helps.
