A lot of Dunk bashing tonight.
His footballing skills have improved no end under RDZ, he's a much better footballer now, however the down side is very little safety first, always tries to be positive with the ball and keep the game moving which unfortunately can lead to mistakes.
It happens.
Really good point.

I fear that’s him done now whilst Southgate’s in charge. I can’t see him being trusted or given another chancez

Weak header but they still had plenty to do for the goal

I’m not sure we’d have made Europe with Potter, I don’t think he is tactically astute enough to sustain that level. Just an opinion…..

How much further depends on the next appointment, IMO, we just need to adjust slightly to make ourselves more solid without the ball, as we remain very open.

Yes please.

Despite his poor performance tonight, I think Dunk will start against Belgium simply because this is how Southgate runs things with sharing playing time among the squad. Having played the final quarter tonight, I think he'll certainly play at least a half if not three quarters on Tuesday.

How he performs on Tuesday will clearly be important after tonight's showing. Do well and things could well be different. Another poor performance and you may well be right.

No blue and white tinted specs or revisionism here - he's got some work to do. But I think he'll have at least 45 minutes to do it.
At least Lukaku is injured!

When Dunk came on we were 1 down inside 5 mins. Directly from his error.
Maguire scored an own goal previously but that didn’t stop Southgate.

Dunk’s only allowed to play in friendlies, anyway.

I agree, it is.

I love Dunk, and JP too. But at the VERY top level mistakes cost games.
Tonight was a friendly against a second string Brazil in development, but in a Euro final or alike it would be remembered forever.
Sometimes row Z or dare I say “going distance” with a clearance is okay. It may not be the RdZ way but it can be necessary.

Wouldn't be a Potter sort of gig. His strength is working with players - not necessarily born superstars - on a daily basis and making them better, and making them collectively better as a team.
Similar modus operandi to RDZ in that respect. Different job to getting a bunch of disparate players together once in a while for a quick fix. Not saying he couldn't do it any better or worse than Waistcoat man though.
This argument can be used against every manager who’s never coached an international team though.

I agree it’s a different gig to club football but I’m sure Potter could get a system together, and find the right players to operate in that system.

Why on earth do you think Bloom would employ him again?
As I understand it, Barber and Bloom remain on cordial terms with Potter. I believe Bloom is very emotional about the “90 mins + time added on” bit of football - but the rest is business. I doubt he took it personally.

Southgate is a clown. He actually reminds me of a younger Hodgson. All presentation and zero substance.
Konsa at RB when he also had Gomez on the bench. Gallagher in CM when he’s a 10. The continued selection of Maguire. The continued selection of Rashford.
England created next to nothing tonight.
I too hope he is the next Man U manager.

Managers move on, but don’t usually take 9 staff all at once with them. Two or three maybe?
How long would he last when he gets another offer?

When RDZ moves on he will probably take 12 or 13 with him! If Tony wants Potter back it’s probably a good shout.

I don’t know. We were in an outstanding run when Potter was poached. It started with the.2-1 win at Arsenal and ended with that 5-2 against Leicester: 30 points from 14. Was far from an easy run of fixtures either, so I reckon there’s a good chance we’d have still been top 6.

Amazing run of results. Shame many can’t bring themselves to acknowledge it even happened.

Potter gets better by the week. Almost no one repeatedly reminisced about him for 15 months.

What’s changed?

It can’t be Potter, because he car crashed in his only job since. I can only think that people assume RDZ’s going to resign for a bigger challenge?
