Could there be a better day? I saw the score was 19 for 2, then was busy at work until the early afternoon. Next time I looked we were batting...

Bless the ****. Horrible ********

I love a bit of Virat. He's such a pantomime villain. He knows it too. It's good to see a captain with a bit of an edge (which Virat had when batting today).

Our Joe is an outstanding cricketer and fine chap. But in another world he'd be studying football finance...

Off to Leeds this evening and have tickets for Days 3 and 4. Rather looking forward to it now - with a tinge of sadness that I had to give up my Everton ticket.

Hopefully we will bat through today and I can enjoy us having a quick thrash tomorrow morning, followed by bowling out the Indians over the next three or four sessions to win.

Bumble in commentary after Hameed gets a short one on the back of his helmet...... "they will have to follow concussion protocols, ask him questions like what is your name,.. if he replies 'Elvis Presley' he'll have to go off" ... hilarious, made my morning that.

He's also one of the few current players who sound like they really mean it when they say that test cricket's the top form of the game.

The fact is, almost all the things people criticise other teams for (sledging, swearing, complaining to the umpires about conditions, trying to get the ball changed etc.) are things all teams do. Unless it's David Warner I don't see anything to get wound up about.

Really hope Malan can push on today. For me he is our best (only?) option at number 3 for the Ashes.

Lunch, Day Two

England 182-2 (68 overs)

Malan 27* Root 14*

Leading by 104, Root at the crease and a new ball due mid-session this afternoon... important phase of the match coming up!

New Ball, could go either way, wouldn't really fancy it against two set Batsmen, especially if one is Joe Root. 226-2...

IMHO if England can see off the new ball they have very little excuse to not get 500 here IMHO, the pitch isn't doing a huge amount, the bowlers are starting to get tired and England have some real quality (and potential quick scoring) to come with Bairstow, Buttler, Ali

This is really quite an odd feeling, isn't it? Looking at a scoreboard where all of the England Top 4 have got decent runs.

Much needed (and a few more times please as well), with the Ashes on the way.

Malan 50 :clap2:

I'm sure Sky will tell us shortly, but how long is it since England top 4 all made 50?
