If this is true the number of tourists it'll create might explain why the Etihad is one of the quietest grounds in the league - even Pep has commented on how the fans don't make much noise.
Every ground is a library. Away fans always say so.

With demand at an all time high, and the failure of many to use the ticket exchange, should ST’s now be paying a premium above the pro-rata matchday cost for the right to have first dibs on a seat for home (and to an extent away) matches? I wonder how long it will be before PL clubs phase out ST’s and the associated discount, to encourage more high spending tourist type supporters instead of legacy fans?
why did you go and suggest that method for? You just know now that eagle eyed PBOBE will see this and think ‘now there’s an idea’

Despite having been supporting the Albion since 1971... I am pretty sure that without a season ticket (and I pay for 3 adults and have done since the start of the Withdean years)... I wouldn't be shelling out £150 a pop to go to home games. The season ticket direct debit is a brilliant bit of marketing as far as I am concerned. If it goes, then I am pretty sure so would I.

Are you seriously asking for the price of tickets to be put up? WTF! 🤦‍♀️😲
I said it could probably be put up, on a par, without too much objection and we all benefit from the team having more income. Those multi millionaires aren’t cheap you know…

I'm seriously considering jacking the season ticket in. Something just seems amiss at home games in the last few years. Might be a temporary thing but sometimes it just seems like a chore these days.
That’s probably transport fatigue, I do get this.

Ha ha, although it’s been in a few football journalism articles so I’m sure it’s not me with the breaking news!

Think I read somewhere that Man City no longer sell new season tickets. Existing STH can renew but you can't buy a new one.
Sort of true , you can buy a silver season ticket which doesn’t include the top 6 clubs or you can buy a felxi ticket so you can have the same seat

Question is, would someone else take your place? Being in the PL, answer is probably yes so it doesn’t matter you’d stop coming. Harsh, but fair I’m afraid!

Those multi millionaires can take a pay cut! Before it was put to £30 for all away fans at all PL grounds there was a big push for £20, which personally, I think is the right amount considering travel etc. The clubs will not miss out on 3000 x £10 (30k), peanuts to them.

Cup games probably not best basis for comparison purposes and pretendance is tricky one to evaluate either way. I also wouldn’t be as confident about things ever remaining as-is, especially if our share of television money was reduced.
But if demand was at "an all time high" cup games would sell out. We had more in the ground when we beat Liverpool in the cup a couple of seasons ago. And we'll see plenty more empty blue seats on Friday. All you have to do to completely disprove your theory is move kick off to 8pm, and that happens far too often over a season.

Fair enough, though I think it should be on a par and could be without too much objection so we’ve more money to spend on improving the team.
Ticket money is a drop in the ocean compared to tv money.

Speaking as a former ST, current mA+ and no desire to return to the old days:

It's a piece of piss to get tix for literally any match, I can pick and choose as I feel, I'm saving loads of money and I can always watch literally any match on telly.

Thus my own personal 'ending season ticket culture' has been all about crowing obnoxiously about how much better life is without one.

That’s an old mindset though, and is being challenged by those that run the game. Hence thought be an interesting thread. At the very least the discount will be removed albeit you could argue it already has been and is just marketed as such.
It's being challenged by the likes of Man U, who have a huge global following. I remember someone from the club saying that 97% of Man U fans had never set foot in Old Trafford. Despite our Japanese support, we're nowhere near those numbers. Man U and Liverpool have scores of 'fans' in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire. How many Brighton supporters live in Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria?

I agree, although I suppose if you look after the tens of thousands, the millions take care of themselves!

Different competitions and product. PL completely different.
