Why the prolonged laughter over our third goal? I don't get it. It wasn't funny. It was an own goal. We scored one as well yesterday. I was overjoyed and celebrated riotously with my son but neither of us laughed. Digne had to make an effort to stop the cross, as Murray was behind, waiting to tap into an open goal.
We got fortunate yesterday. The penalty was soft, in the extreme. We were heading for defeat until VAR intervened. After the game we were relieved, grateful and realised how lucky we had got. I just don't get this type of shallow celebration. All footballers deserve an element of respect, however much you want your own team to win. It just wasn't funny. Trying to keep a ball out of your own net is part of the game and Digne had little or no option to slide in and try and clear.
We won't play as ordinarily as that and win very often this season. We got lucky. Fans should appreciate that and not milk it.

Very serious thinking going on there. (Almost) everyone, whether they were in the stadium, on a train or on a bus, was euphoric. In the NS adults and kids clambered over chairs. Winning is everything, especially when an unlikely last minute win seals it. Football’s always been like that, always will be, supporters are passionate about the club.

Other than for Richarlison, people just had happy emotions.

Cheering and laughing the replays was almost better than the goal itself. Great fun.

Reckon it was academic anyway, Muzza would have slotted the cross if Digne hadn’t slid it in.

I have left many games after clapping the team off and never had an hour wait for a train. Yesterday was the same and 20 mins max.

The joy of winning should be celebrated. I did. I didn't laugh at Digne. Within the game, I respect the effort that players put in. I'm sorry but I just didn't find the own goal funny. If fans choose to revel in misfortune, thats their choice.
None of my mates in the car found it funny either but then, they have been watching football for a long time, are mature and well rounded and know that revelling in someone else's misfortune always come back to bite you. We all loved the win and all chuckled about how lucky we had got.

To be fair the language in this thread doesn't seem to suggest that people are being called " losers " because as you state that is out of order. And to be fair some examples given about work commitments and family issues are very valid. However, the suspicion of myself and obviously many others is that way too many leave just to avoid a little bit of queuing and/or a sleight delay in their journey time home. And as for just getting wet that is really a bit lame and as you stated early you were at Withdean so I struggled to understand how you thought that was a good excuse. I'm sure you can recall almost drowning at home to Rochdale on that Friday night.

I didn't say anything about Withdean, getting me confused I think.

I dunno, it's just the same old tired arguments from both sides.

Whatever reason people have for leaving early is valid for them. I just don't get why people get so het up about it. In much the same way that people don't understand why people would want to leave early.

When I leave early it's because I want to and that's my reason. It's not lame to me. It's what I want to do. So I do it. I don't do it all the time but sometimes I do and that's fine. It's not hurting anyone, is it?

Yes, so footballers (amateur and pro) could play cricket in the summer.

I think that is back to front. Historically many early football clubs were formed by cricketers who wanted to have some sort of sporting activity during the winter.

I can never understand the mentality of leaving early. A season ticket is not cheap, neither is an individual ticket on a one of match. Would those same people leave a cinema 5 - 10mins before the end of the film, I dont think so. Just so they are on the first bus out. If time is precious to those people then footies not the ideal thing for them.

100%. Other best example of this I can remember recently was Sidwell's halfway line hit at Bristol City - must have been played half a dozen times on the big screen, cheer got louder every time. Brilliant
