transfers fees are not what they were. If Cahill is going for 6m.......thats makes dunk in the bracket I suggested earlier. He is not that good yet, but has huge potential to be that good, so yes premiership clubs are after him as he is an investment.

Cahill's contract is up in the Summer hence the rather low fee.

£2m + would be a good, we don't need to sell our players on the cheap anymore.

If we are going to sell we should do it sooner rather than later so that we able to bring in a replacement and other signings.

Some laughable valuations on here. Even if you accept that he is worth £750k-£1m, (which I don't) why on earth would you want to sell him for that sort of figure?
How do you replace him for that? He must be one of the lower paid players, so little or nothing freed up from the wage budget to pay for new players. Unless there is a serious offer in the Region of £4-5m I fail to see any reason to let him go. The only justification for selling would be to get enough money to strengthen 3 or 4 positions, we are trying to build a side to get promoted in a season or two, Dunk has the required quality for that side, unless the fee enabled us to secure several players of that standard what is the point?

Cahill is only £6m because he's out of contract in six months

What everyone seems to forget is that Cahill is proven at that level! Dunk has played a hand full of championship games. Whilst i rate dunk as a decent prospect there is no way he could be worth more that 2M tops. IMO

dont get me wrong here, and I am not suggesting that you are one, but people live in clud cuckoo land regarding transfers and fees. There is not a chance he is even close to £3m let alone £2m. He needs to stay here and develop under Gus and keep improving, thats where the investment lies.

If he is good enough for the premiership then his value is upwards of 3 million

Frankly Dunk would be be better to hang on if Everton are in the frame, frankly with the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea looking at him he'd be a mug to go to a potless club like Everton who only have their memories to go on. Until they have a change at board level they are a spent force who make up the numbers in the Premier at best.

CLOUD CUCKOO LAND friend.

And for the record I have not said I think he is good enough for the premiership, I said a club from there would buy him as an investment as he has THE POTENTIAL to be good enough, but as it stands based upon this season, he is Brighton level at best. He is good, he has terrific potential to be very good, but makes to many mistakes and collects too many cautions due his late tackles. I am not for one moment knocking him, he would be in my starting 11 week in week out and I would like to see him stay and improve with us and one day he will be worth £3m.

Nobody knows if he will make the grade as a prem defender hence why nobody will be willing to pay silly money. If everton do get him the they will be taking a calculated gamble, but with that gamble comes a sensibly low purchase price. I personally think it may be around the 1M mark, perhaps even less.

Why don`t we keep the investment instead of giving it away

People seem to be missing the point a little. He's a brilliant prospect, and if a Premiership team (you know, the ones with all the money in the world) want him then they clearly rate him as good enough. We're in a position of strength because they want him and we don't want to sell. We should be taking whatever you think his market value is (1m, 2m, 3m, whatever) and doubling it, because if they're determined to get him they're going to have to pay for it. He's in the England Under21s for god's sake, and we're not broke in the lower leagues anymore. We shouldn't stand in his way but anyone suggesting 750k or anything ridiculous like that is seemingly happy for us to get mugged off. Are we going to sell every player to anyone who offers north of half a million? What kind of ambition does that show?

Wasn't Smalling £8m and his value was entirely based on potential? I don't think Dunk is worth that much, and nor Smalling, but i would think for a reasonable-sized club to want to buy any player then it's extremely rare they get to spend less than a million. I would imagine it to be close to £2m with the various add-ons, if it came to it. Only be more if it became an auction and the larger clubs all seemed a little desperate for him. Can't be sure Everton have that much money really and if they were looking to fill the gap that Jagielka's injury has caused then they might want some fancy-dan european on loan until the season is out. A big greek, or something.

Am I right in saying there are now rules in the premiership about number of English players? If so this must work in our favour in increasing his value, might be wrong though

Not happy to get "mugged off" as you put it, just trying to put some perspective spin on it. I think until any deal is done, we can speculate at prices all day long.

Oxlade chamberlain and fabian delph went for 10m didn't they? If they are worth that dunk is worth at least half, can't believe some peoples valuations

It may be me, but i cannot find anything that CONFIRMS that Everton are in talks with Dunk. If Twitter is the bench mark for making it a fact then so be it
