It wasn't particularly violent but in real time I saw him do that and thought "uh oh". I actually think Garnacho has done him a massive favour by not doing what I expected him to do and make a huge fuss out of It.
My first thought was that he looked like he was going to give him a passionate snog.

In hindsight that probably reflects more on me.

Also can see what someone mentioned earlier - the linesman stepping in and moving Sollys arm. Wonder why he did that given that Solly never touched the guy and only raised his arm to salute the starving children of Africa.

I don't know what some people feel they gain from making excuses for every single thing our players do on the pitch and demonising most of what the opponents do. Like, what makes people think "I'm going to throw all logical thinking out the window and build my world view around this emotion", and that emotion being that players of their own team never do anything wrong ("Veltman isn't cheating, HE'S GAME MANAGING") and that the opponents are always doing everything wrong and should be sent off.

You'd imagine at some point people would think, "hmm, maybe I'm just like the fans of all the other teams and ignore/excuse the actions of my players and demonise the actions of others due to my bias rather than the entire world conspiring against my football club?"

I'm not saying Solly should have a red. I'm saying its always f***ing ridicilous discussing ref decisions on any fan board because people CHOOSE to be illogical, making any debate useless.
Edit - Not that nice, and I'd like to be nicer from now on

It's good but I still prefer the FA Cup semifinal, when Antony tried to square up to Dunk and simply bounced off him.

Was at the AMEX so might have been the game a few days after the semi

Good. I guess this means you won't be taking part in them then.

Football is a sport. People cheat at sport to get a better chance of winning, whether it's football, water polo, horse racing, tiddlywinks or F1. That's why a referee is needed in the first place. Fans and coaches putting pressure on that referee to decide subjective calls their way is simply part of helping the team to win. It's been going on since mankind first did something competitive and it will continue to go on forever, regardless of your fragile moral compass.

Exact same reaction I had. If you put your hand near the face you're at risk of someone diving to the floor.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Solly taking the ball to the corner. I'm sure most of the rest of the squad would have charged towards the goal with the overload we had. Solly basically killed the last 4 minutes or so by taking the ball to the corner, flopping over for a soft foul, then all the nonsense.

Actually shouted yes and did a fist pump when he took the ball to the corner. Cool head. Loved it.

Fair enough, but plenty on the official match thread were incredulous. If it had been a couple of seasons ago, it’d have been 10-12 mins.
Yep. That’s when we were tonking Man Utd 4-0, an extra 10/12 minutes for them to try and draw level! Oh, and let’s not forget United being awarded a penalty AFTER the final whistle was blown. :drink:

I don't remember the extra time in that game, but the period where the 4th officials were regularly doing 10+ minutes was following the example set in the world cup in season 22-23 where they weren't afraid of actually adding on the full amount time lost for an injury or VAR decision.

Assuming it's the same incident then it's covered well here around 5 mins. Confirms what I saw with my own eyes 20 metres away at the time - absolutely nothing in it. Barely even a yellow card for either.

Unrelated to the thread- but does Enciso look like he's saying goodbye at the end there? Looking sad and waving to the crowd.

Are you referring to the Man Utd branch of the PGMOL?

P.S. I also noticed that it was 8 minutes added on time yesterday, as opposed to the default 6 minutes Fergie time. I can only assume it was to try and enable United to score the necessary two goals to draw the game.
The guy doing the bbc thread yesterday said “ 8 minutes! Where did that come from”. “ that’s ridiculous “.
I should have taken a screen shot.
