Right now it looks really bad, but we'll probably learn a lot more in the next few months. I cannot believe that those in high positions in the military and secret service are going to sit idly by while Trump turns the US into a Russian state. Even those who have been removed from their positions will be looking at what can be done. They'll be watching Trumps actions closely.

Personally, I think there will only REALLY be peace when Russia has control of Ukraine. Or enough of Ukraine to keep Putin happy, before he goes and invades another country as part of his quest to build USSR 2.0. As I've said before, it wouldn't surprise me if Trump helped him with that, financially.

If you observe Russian history you cannot fail to be aware of the need for strong-arm leaders, see Ivan the Great, Ivan the Terrible, Peter the Great, Catherine the Great, Stalin, Putin. However, there is not an inexhaustible supply of them and inevitably the strongest can often be followed by chaos due to the decimation inflicted by the previous strong-arm ruler

I'm watching some 'good' people in the Senate discuss Ukraine who quite clearly think Trump is wrong. I suppose it depends whether their voices are loud enough to get through & the tide to turn.

Unfortunately I have no faith that the 'good US citizens' have any influence on matters at the moment. I'd also suggest there are good people in Iran and in Afghanistan and probably in Russia. There were probably good people in Germany during the 30s!
