I don’t think KS or the King personally would want Trump anywhere near this Country, but the invitation was a classic case of keeping your friends close and your potential enemies even closer. They both knew Trump would lap up the chance of a second State visit and if that what it takes to keep our relationship with the US and potentially act as an intermediary for Ukraine and other European countries, so be it.

I think the invitation, no matter how vile Trump and Vance are, was a master stroke of negotiation though. You give something your opponent really really values highly, but at minimal value to yourself…and you could delay/withdraw the offer at a later date if things don’t go to plan.
