I don’t think KS or the King personally would want Trump anywhere near this Country, but the invitation was a classic case of keeping your friends close and your potential enemies even closer. They both knew Trump would lap up the chance of a second State visit and if that what it takes to keep our relationship with the US and potentially act as an intermediary for Ukraine and other European countries, so be it.

These events take years to Plan. Hopefully in the latter part of Tango’s 4 year term. That means he may feel he needs to be less nasty to the UK than anyone else prior to his visit and gives us a chance to give him a traditional British welcome when he’s in his hopefully last year in office.
