Fair play and respect to Starmer, he could not have done better. But judging by the headlines this morning, Trump has suddenly become a good guy and Britain is his best friend.

He has not and we are not. Trump is playing a game to which no one but he knows the rules but Trump is determined to be the only winner.

Beware.
I don't believe Trump had the mental capability to play such games. Starmer has just flashed a bit of the UK's cleavage at him and he's now going to buy us drinks all night, and the sycophants and yes men he's surrounded himself with this time aren't going to tell him otherwise.

Land at Heathrow, marine 1 to Windsor. No carriage ride. Lots of tv pics and protectors at the door or at the end of the long walk.

Let's get Ukraine sorted first, so we can judge what sort of reception to give him. I know he's not a good guy, but if he does the right thing by Ukraine, I'm happy to let it slide.

According to the front page of the Telegraph, as illustrated on the BBC website, the invitation is to BaBalmoral.
No I think the invitation is extended to Balmoral or Dumfries perhaps, for them to meet and plan the actual state visit to Windsor

I was totally against the last state visit, sadly needs must this time to massage the psychos ego. Great opening gambit by the prime minister

And 100s of thousands of protesters within a short journey descending on a town just outside the M25. Far better to have him in the middle of nowhere, 200 miles from civilisation, and save millions on policing costs and disruption.

Agree with this.

Trump is a one trick pony. He starts with outlandish and insane rants but what he really wants is wealth, power and prestige. His father wasn’t allowed into the posh gentlemen’s clubs in New York because he was new money, uncouth, rude and simple. Let’s see if his dogs (Musk & Vance) come out with any anti-UK shit anymore, I bet they don’t.

Trump loves Britain though. A huge advantage for Starmer. He dreams of spending summers at Buckingham Palace taking tea and then having a round of golf with King Charles. He dreams of being a hero in Britain. He dreams of the pomp and ceremony. Starmer and his team understand his transactional nature. If he can achieve a lasting peace in Ukraine which most importantly, they are happy with, give him a spare key to the Palace I say.

I get your point but I'm sure they aberdonians who are just 50miles away may have an issue with your last statement :)

Trump would buy the drinks then send a bill with 25% added on

Hmmm a lot on here with this view. More likely we are getting played by tango man who holds all the cards....and let's not forget we need them much more than they need us.
I’m not sure he’s that sophisticated. Time will tell.

Unfortunately what should happen, but definitely won't, is that nobody turns up at all. No protesters, no flag wavers, absolutely no one.

That would wind up the Stupid Orange Bungle**** and be hilarious :lolol:

I think the trip couldn't have gone any better but, ultimately if the Trump decides to change his mind, then it really makes little difference. He knows that he's the power player and we're just a small island off Europe trying to appease him
