Shocking news , Trump stops funding for Sesame Street workshops in Iraq

Promoting mutual respect in a country with a history of religious and sectarian division. What a terrible idea. What next; teaching them to read so they can start to think for themselves.
As with Putin in Russia, you can only deny reality for so long. At the moment the world over there is very much as you call it. I no longer use X regularly but look in every so often and it’s like entering a parallel universe. But things can only be kept hidden for so long, and when it all goes very south people will see it. Of course, some will never see the reality, they’re so far down the rabbit hole that they will insist the Emperor’s robes are magnificent when they are literally eye-balling his cock and balls. But most aren’t like this.

Incidentally, this is the new Time magazine cover;

Trump will hate it. And if Elon is seen as overshadowing him, he’s out. Then the shit really does hit the fan.

Just imagine what a jilted Musk could unleash with the data he is accumulating with his unlimited access.

...and no one is going to boycott Tesla.

That's lovely...and for what it's worth,,(very little, I know!) I sold my ISA funds that contain any Tesla/Space X shares, and told the fund provider that these companies should now fail their ESG (G,being governance) rating because of Musk's behavior.
They won't change anything (I'm very small fry) but I will sleep better.

I think we also underestimate just how big the US is. Most get their news from local versions of the main media or from social media..so something happening in wyoming is as remote as something happening in Guatemala. And something happening in california or Washington? Well they deserve it as they're rich woke commies.

I try not to talk about US politics with my US colleagues but this week one raised the gaza situation as a good idea. They had no idea what or where gaza was but believed it was an anti American area that was responsible for terror activities like 9/11 and that Israel were trying to keep the US safe and now needed help. As most of the terrorists were dead there were only a few hundred people who needed relocating while the clean up operation took place.

When I asked where they had got this from them said it was from X and it was from blue tick accounts so they know they were experts.

Tbf this was the same person that said in 2018 that uk were great as we had expelled the invading Europeans from our land due to brexit.

Btw this person is an educated individual who runs a major data management operation out of the Chicago suburbs.
Scary world...very scary!

Lost a bit in the shuffle, but If you had anymore doubts about his fascist tendencies

He's gonna be putting up golden statues of himself, isn't he?

It'll be like those pathetic NFTs. Trump as a cowboy, Trump as a superhero, Trump as a spaceman.

If I remember correctly, last time he wanted to hire Sylvester Stallone to run arts and culture. Classy! :lolol:

He's already strongly talked about Canada being the 51st state and recently Greenland. This is surely going to stoke Putin up of either happens as then Russia has even more reason (in his eyes) to stop the West wanting to "take over Russia"
I don't think either of Trump's threats will happen, but the mere use of such threats will signal to Putin that he can remain outlandish with his own threats.

You think the constitution means a damn thing anymore?

They have already shown that they will ignore the constitution. Seizing the power of the purse from congress and blatantly ignoring laws passed by congress (see shutting down USAID without any authority, for example). That is 100% unconstitutional. That's article one of the constitution. They are ripping the whole thing up. All of it. And the GOP is happy to let them do it.
Yes, I do.

The USAID issue represents an unconstitutional move, yes, hence the instant legal reaction.

Implementing policy that is unconstitutional is entirely different to amending the constitution itself which, unless an issue of significant bipartisan importance comes to pass over the next four years, we’ll not be seeing. Unless a third of Democrats in both Houses and all GOP lawmakers want to support that move. Trump will not see a third term, I’m absolutely certain of it.

Appreciate you’re not as optimistic as me in this regard - only time will tell 🙂

You are correct that they won't be able to amend the constitution. My point is that it doesn't matter. They'll do, and are already doing, whatever they want. Regardless of the constitution. Who's going to stop them? The Supreme Court? Who declared a president can break any laws they want? Or impeachment from congress? That is stacked with MAGA and people too cowardly to stand up to them?

Outside of a coup or a revolution, I don't see how this stops. And that's something that I though was impossible in the modern USA.

It stops when Trump croaks and all his enablers fall out with each other and they cannot find anyone to coalesce around....they fight like rats in a sack and eat each other until there's no one credible left.

Can he/they simply not have elections - and therefore his second term rolls on? I'm not up to speed with the US constitution.

They can do whatever the f*** they like anymore. You don't need to be up-to-speed on the constitution. It's moot. They've thrown it in the bin.

This is the one hope. I don't think MAGA stays together without Trump at the head. A president Vance will be awful. But, it can't be worse. He is much more within the norms, and he is a void of personality, so I doubt he'll be able to whip up a MAGA mob the way the orange felon can. The only downside is that he might be even more in Musk's pocket. But, the rest of congress are more likely to stand up to him.

As usual, a laughing emoji from @spence , the f'king moron

The laughing emoji is the last desperate throw of the unrequited idiot.

I really don't like what they're saying, but if I use words I'll be shown up for the complete moron I am.

He's not the the first, the last or even the only current. I suspect that they find having a whole keyboard in front of them somewhat confusing :dunce:

It would appear US Aid wasn’t solely being directed to the starving…………I suspect their are wealthy lawyers in this country shitting the bed should the foreign aid budget get similarly drained.

Whether you like or loathe Trump shining a light on wasteful expenditure of US taxpayer dollars is a good thing. Bravo.

Trump is most probably pissed off that his snout wasn’t in the trough.
If you think trump gives a shit about anyone other than himself then you are terminally stupid.
Trump likes tax only if he isn’t paying it and that he gets rich out of it.
