IF he did it on purpose? How do you 'accidentally' tie a dog to the back of your car?

Have you never seen Vacation with Chevy Chase?

Wasn't actually a joke about the dog, more about what goes on up Devils Dyke. I too am sickened by what has been done. No doubt he will get a fine and a slap on there wrist. I personally think he should be charged with murder. If it happened to a human he would never see life outside of a prison ever again. Why should it be different for a dog? Makes me sick

Perhaps because a dog is an animal and not a human? I am in no way condoning what he did, it is disgusting, but an animal's life is worth a significant amount less than that of a human in my opinion.

That's where I think the law should change. Hell it used to be ILLEGAL to be gay 80 years ago, so as we're moving in the right direction we might as well give dogs more protection aswell.

In my opinion this country is far too precious about animal rights and needs to be abit more concerned about more important issues such as child poverty/abuse, the homeless, famine etc.

Of course, I would also like to see these issues highlighted more. But animals are also selfless, loving and loyal creatures. Dependant on humans to give them shelter, food, love etc this can be open to abuse, like any dependant. And that's why there needs to be more laws protecting animals. Otherwise people can get a kick out of torturing another lifeform and get off relatively scot free in comparison to if their victim was a human.

But I suspect the real reason people get away with these crimes (although apparently not in the eyes of the law) is gov't don't want to start using taxpayers money to house humans who have killed non tax payers (dogs, cats, horses...)

I do agree to a certain extent but with the prison system the way it is at the moment, I would rather see a child abuser/murderer/rapist taking up a cell than fill the prisons with people who have abused animals. I would certainly advocate a hefty fine for these individuals though
