Someone said six months maximum though. The tariff is what, 15 years for a human? Why such a gap if it's not to save money.

That legislation has in all probability been there for ages. Parliaments don't often set jail tariffs with budgets in mind but rather the principle of the severity of the crime. Most people are not like you and they place the value of an animal's life well below that of a human. The legislation reflects this.

Seriously in your view which is worse: Someone saying a joke about Brighton fans being gay

OR

A dog excruciatingly painfully being dragged to its death.

Who suffered more there? the dog? or a small minority of people who are easily offended?

Hurt someones feelings? or someone who tortures a dog to death?

Which is more serious?

Please answer.

I fail -snip-

Yes, you do.

how you think 6 months is a just sentence for abusing an animal, i mean the bollocks that there just animals is pathetic, there no different from us really, they feel pain, have feelings also are intelligent, so abusing any animal is low, and 6months is a complete joke imo.

Also if the man done this on purpose i would question his sanity, and seriously think about sectioning him, as its beyond sick

Are you by chance a vegetarian? If not, why not? By your reasoning that tasty, tasty steak you ate X days ago was a living, feeling creature, once. Should you or the farmer that Murdered it accept a 6 month (or greater) sentence?

Don't bandwagon jump, it makes you look silly. Not that you need any help with that.

Innocent until Proven guilty. At which point, lynch him all you want. Stupid pillock drives a Porsche anyway, yuck.

Your question is ridiculous. It's also extremely loaded. It seems to suggest that I think the slightest action against someone is more serious than the worst action against an animal. I don't think so and neither do most people. The sentencing reflects that. No-one goes to prison for singing "does your boyfriend...". If this bloke is found guilty he probably will do time.

Wasn't actually a joke about the dog, more about what goes on up Devils Dyke. I too am sickened by what has been done. No doubt he will get a fine and a slap on there wrist. I personally think he should be charged with murder. If it happened to a human he would never see life outside of a prison ever again. Why should it be different for a dog? Makes me sick

For the first time ever I agree with TB. If anyone did anything to my Dog I would literally kill them, no question.

  • Someone else tied it.
  • He tied it and forgot.
  • The dog got tangled in something on the car and he wasn't aware
  • He was spooked by something, feared for his own safety and had to drive off immediately
  • He thought he had untied it, meant to release the dog but hadn't untied it properly

Of course! These are all far more likely scenarios than the guy deliberately tying a dog to a car bumper; late at night; after a walk; in a remote place; and driving around for a bit of a sick laugh. Dog owners are ALWAYS tying their animals to the car bumper and forgetting they had an animal when driving off. Especially when taking their dog out for a late night walk in the pitch black at a remote location.....

Come on Buzzar, there's a time to be devils advocate and then there's a time to HANG THE GUILTY!! This sick **** deserves the full force of the law for what he's done. Disgusting.

PS I'm not ranting, you're only reading as such :)

Obviously a horrible story.

But why is it people can shoot wild animals for sport, yet when someone puts a cat in a wheelie bin there's a public outcry?

My thoughts exactly, somewhat double standards from the animal lovers I feel to only worry about the cuddly, fluffy animals!

Ok try this one:

Man wants to go up to Devil's Dyke to meet woman, so he gives his partner excuse of taking the dog for late night walk.

When he gets there, he ties the dog to the back of car so he and his illicit partner can get it on inside the car.

When finished, she gets out and with his mind on 'other things' he drives off, forgetting that he'd brought the dog with him as excuse.

Realises halfway home, panics about the dog and getting found out, and leaves the dog by the road.

Obviously still guilty of killing the dog, but a very different scenario to deliberately tying a dog to your bumper and dragging it for miles. Dog slaughter rather than dog murder.

Where to start on this? Of course dog owners don't accidentally do this all the time but I have shown you proof that it has happened before very recently. The location was not particularly remote either seeing as we have eye-witnesses on here saying they saw him on a relatively busy junction.

Of course, if he's guilty then throw the full force of the law at him but you, without anything more than the barest of facts, want me to join your lynch mob.

Possible. But sick sadist more likely. Hang him.

Wouldn't his partner notice their pet dog was missing when he got home...????????????????????

If it was his pet....and an 'accident'......wouldn't he take it home and bury it rather than leave it by the Southwick tunnel...???????????

24 hours later, he 'hands' himself in to the local constabulary.......why 24 hours later......do you think he forgot....????????????

....or......could he have been drunk as well.....?????????? Oh......wash my mouth out with soap and water for even suggesting such a thing. Judging by his behaviour so far, I am sure he will tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

:down:I read this story early AM when I picked up my copy of the Argus and it left me feeling pretty f***ed-off all day.It beggars belief how it could happen accidentally and if it was deliberate then we should BURN HIM! f***ing hell, this is one sick "person" either way.

Come on, you know it's one rule for the bourgeois and another for the proletariat. We even brought in a law to protect the foxes, but surprise surprise it wasn't enforced. Indeed how could it have been enforced. Anyone who tried to stop them were assaulted.

It happens, but not on the animal lovers watch.

Personally i find killing any animal is wrong, yet I eat all meat ??? What happened to that poor dog is different though. That is torture. Hope that when this bloke is named he gets his own kind of torture.
