[Albion] Does Potter really believe the team doesn’t need strengthening?

The club has had since the end of the August window to target who they want. I really can't believe they thought that they would make it through the whole season with an 18yr old, PL newbie and someone almost old enough to be both their fathers

Usually the only time that managers talk openly about needing to sign lots of players, is when chairmen are withholding funds (or at least the managers perceive them to be), a la Benitez and Mourinho.

Read nothing into it. We are being continually linked to strikers and right backs, surely one or two will be based in some truth.

Dean Smith and Steve Bruce have openly talked about the need for new players this month, before they signed. Villa have granted Smith’s wish, with more to come.

Villa this morning now strongly linked with Olivier Giroud, the teams around us are going for it....... All the while we "look for solutions within"

If he stays fit, and with Reina between the sticks that’s probably enough to keep them up. Best start looking again for those other two teams worse than us at goalscoring.

We've only had four games in January thus far, with another tomorrow.

Seriously, what's the rush?

The teams that are worse than us at goalscoring are Norwich, Bournemouth, Watford, Newcastle, Palace and Sheffield Utd.

Palace already have Tosun, villa and Newcastle both actively pursuing strikers whilst a few options exist.
We're an Injury to Maupay away from serious trouble (without reinforcements), as neither Andone or Locadia have been replaced.
If we do decide to dither/delay towards 31st whilst others move quicker, it will be last Turkey in the shop.

There's a limited pool of decent striker options available in January and multiple clubs in need.... No rush?

Brighton / Hove actually
He should have just been honest and told the world that he inherited a bunch of chimps and if he could he would replace them all.

Might not do much for squad moral, and players may lose interest, but at least he would have made a statement of truth.

You missed my sarcastic tone somewhat, didn't you?

I suspect the will-we-won't-we sell Dunk for a massive fee has put recruitment decisions on hold for a few days - which will mean once that is resolved we will be in the panic buy period.

I haven’t read the thread but I don’t think Potter is a moron, which he would have to be if he really believes we don’t need strengthening.

Whether the club are willing to break records, or get lucky in finding the big awkward goal scoring forward we need is another matter..I have pretty well given up hope of us ever doing anything other than taking a considered flyer on the kind of forward we have needed for years.

Big marquee striker signings don’t happen at the Albion.

It does beggar belief.
If they are not going to bring someone in, then they are playing with fire. Its not as if any of our three are prolific anyway. You could bring in out of favour Billy Sharp and he would not be any worse than what we have. Giroud ( wages too much ) would be the answer and Batshuayi would definitely be worth a try. Our real trouble is the fact we have a largely non-goalscoring midfield, so it has to be goals from upfront or centre backs ( same old...same old )
Southampton are probably going to stay up because of one striker.
