[Misc] Does anyone know someone who has a face mask exemption ?

I have asthma related allergies that cause issues with breathing if wearing a mask for long periods of time. I can manage about 5-10 minutes in my local corner shop but beyond that, don't bother going anywhere that would require me wearing one longer.

Don't see the point in a visor/shield as they do not provide adequate protection from COVID-19 when used by themselves as an alternative to cloth face masks.

I won't say its PC for fear of getting flamed on here, but if challenged for not wearing a mask once you say you are exempt, the person challenging you is not allowed to ask why?

Don't ask me why? GDPR?

But I've witnessed it in various scenarios.

This country is manned by pussies.

Is this intended to be a joke? Face mask exemption for having anxiety?

No, it's pretty much included in the government's guidelines - I think the wording is if the wearing of the mask causes extreme distress. In other words it's a loophole you can drive seven buses side by side through.

I agree with those on here who advocate compulsory mask wearing - with the rule at shops being a strict 'No mask, no entry' (and wearing it round your neck won't get you in either).

PS May I also state that I have the utmost respect and admiration for all those people who do have a legitimate excuse to not wear a mask but wear one anyway because it's the right thing to do. I salute you all.

An ex colleague of mine thinks that the whole thing is ridiculous and refuses to wear a mask . He sent away on Amazon for an exempt neck badge . The other day there was a big weight lifting guy in Tescos talking loudly on his mobile boasting that he does not wear a mask. These people should be challenged and if they have something from the Doctors then fair enough if not then a heavy fine would suffice.

What makes me sigh is the number of people walking around with a mark covering the mouth but not their nose. Not sure whether they are plain thick or being sneaky anti mask.

So on the whole the majority wear a mask yet the infection numbers are sky rocketing ???

That's not a correct analysis. Imagine you are in a boat and the vast majority of the hull does not have a hole in it. Eventually the boat will sink.

And to answer the OP I know of nobody with an exemption, but I have seen plenty including our teaching lab technician who simply refuse to wear a mask.

I have, due to my medication, and it covers all face coverings, but I'm still wearing a mask because that's the right thing to do.

This, i have a couple of things on the list to make me exempt, I also find it difficult at times to wear one BUT still wear one

I do. But they live on council estates so I pretend I don’t know them. Hope that helps.

If you can’t wear a mask for any reason, you shouldn’t be in public. End of.

Indeed, let's go one step further and ensure we execute them.............

Yes seen plenty of people with exemptions. Generally in the early twenties either heavily made up boarding buses or at petroleum establishments paying for goods worth more than their cars.
I know of plenty of people who could qualify not to wear masks but either do not go out or struggle through as they are scared of the virus.

The most curious thing..
I know somebody who won't wear a mask due to their mental health.

Just wanted to say I don't judge people I see in supermarkets that are maskless and understand everybody has different circumstances but just with this one individual it seems odd coincidence they are exempt.

I don't judge those people. I do judge the ones who do wear them but have them pulled down over their noses or even worse as I've just seen up the supermarket someone who had one pulled down to their chin. If you are going to wear one do it properly or just don't bother.

You can still wear a mask even if you do take a double dose of Viagra.

There are obviously genuine reasons for some, but like the Bad Back Blue Badge Bullshitters, there will also be some who take advantage.

Oh I agree with that, hence the tar everyone with it line... some will be being deliberately blasé and ready with the ‘valid excuse’ excuse argument with all and sundry ... the system is flawed and all exceptions should have been GP approved, alas the pressure of the pandemic effectively prevented that from being possible I guess...

I have a face mask exemption when I'm with my mother because she is deaf, and lip reads. But as she hardly goes out, that doesn't apply very often.

A visor doesn't help because looking through curved plastic stops her reading the lips.

My wife also lip reads due to deafness so have to take mine off to assist

Maybe some people who don’t wear one because they suffer from anxiety ( yes I know ) should think how anxious they’ll feel being wheeled down to ICU READY FOR A FU+KING GREAT TUBE ABOUT TO BE PUT DOWN THEIR THROAT.
