Visors don’t work, and the science of masks isn’t exactly solid either.

I think masks in general probably would work, but the cotton rags many of us reuse on the daily? I’m not convinced, I still wear them of course as a possibility they may work is better than nothing.

Firstly, the science about face mask reducing the your ability to infect others is actually quite solid. It doesn't stop droplets entirely but it reduces how far the droplets travel. As for visors, they would be considerably less effective but the point is that if it was one or the other, the vast majority of knobs that currently don't bother would almost certainly opt for a mask as their easy to fold up and shove in a pocket once you leave the shop where as a visor is less flexible. It's a means to get more to wear a mask then anything else.

He’s correct if they claimed to be disabled. They didn’t, they said they didn’t believe in Covid. I suppose they could claim they have learning difficulties.
And you don’t have to give a reason to ask someone to leave private property unless ordered to by a court.

Sorry I didn't see that bit about don't believe in covid. Shame he didn't push them out with a 2 meter stick.

I agree with all of that bar condescending remarks about lack of the awareness of mental illness.. I’m not playing with figures here but I would hazard a guess that the majority of people who suffer from anxiety and stress can put a mask on. For those who cannot then I’d advocate they shield through this. I’m sorry for your friends condition though. I have pretty bad COPD but would rather shield than go out without wearing a mask.
Not because of my health particularly but for others around me.

Aplogies if you thought my remarks condescending. That wasn't the intention.

Working in a plumbers merchant today we turned away three customers for not wearing any face covering. Before sending them away we do ask them if they have any exemption and all three said no. We requested that they come back with a face covering.

It's a difficult decision as business is tough but as one of my colleagues has had Covid in the last month and a couple of customers are currently in isolation we made a decision "No Face Cover, No Service" which is clearly marked on the door. Before the current lockdown on a couple of occasions we had customers arguing about face covering between those who do and those who don't.

Hopefully Supermarkets return to limiting the number of people allowed in the store. Since the face mask law came in shops stopped the queuing system.

In the first lockdown I did try to get a Mexican wave going whilst waiting to go in to M&S.

The most curious thing..
Maybe some people who don’t wear one because they suffer from anxiety ( yes I know ) should think how anxious they’ll feel being wheeled down to ICU READY FOR A FU+KING GREAT TUBE ABOUT TO BE PUT DOWN THEIR THROAT.
Do you know what someone suffering from anxiety actually suffers with.
It isn't a slight worried feeling.
It is sheer bloody panic and absolute terror about absolutely everything and anything.

You have no idea....

I’m not demeaning mental health issues as well you know.
But separating just (I know) anxiety from the rest of mental illness is in my opinion valid on this one, sorry.
If you are in that area where you can’t put a mask on for fear of panic attacks then you’d surely need to be looking for friends or family to help surely.
I’m not unfamiliar with mental illness mr happypig
You are demeaning mental issues.

The person I am referring to has severe dementia, doesn't know covid exists, is terrified of almost everything but can't explain what or why, doesn't understand the need to wear a mask, and has a completely different sense of reality and normality to me and probably to you. As a result they refuse to put a mask on.

So stop being sanctimonious about things you know nothing about.

Take them for walks in the park but keep them of supermarkets without a mask. What do you want to kill them ?

My other half has one for a medical reason ,she managed to wear one but really struggled on a flight to Berlin last year . She works the finish shift in a Supermarket so can do her shopping maskless out of hours. Any thing else just orders in .

My daughter works in residential care homes with people like this - not necessarily dementia, but without the mental capacity to understand the need for masks. Daughter can't always wear one at work either - it would freak some of them out.

They refuse/don't understand the need to put a mask on - and they don't go out. They're not allowed out without a carer anyway, so now they just don't go out. Sanctimonious? No, life is just shit sometimes.
