What a stupid comment to make every player is replaceable ,I just think dobbie is better than Barnes just like I think messi is better than Cms.Are you for real?!

Dobbie could also play the vicente role, a lot of swansea fans have said that is his best position, so it could be all 3 of them on the pitch

I'm with the 'marathon not a sprint' gang. There are numerous reasons for them all having a role to play beyond being direct replacements for each other: Injuries; suspensions; competition for places; and international breaks. Also what are you basing your opinion of Dobbie on? He 5 minute cameo on Friday night? Against one the most promising youngsters we've had in years, who happens to know where the goal is?

Sometimes he will replace Barnes sometimes CMS and sometimes play with both. I think everyone forward of Bridcutt is a squad player and will be interchangeable. We now have a solid defence that picks its self and flexible attacking option that can adapt to each game and situation -perfect and keeping them all happy is where Gus earns his cash.

Bore off. Gus has said Dobbie is here to play the Vicente role, not the Barnes role.
Barnes has a starting place every match, and he has earned it.

Agree with this. The reality is we now have really tough competition for places and all players are going to have to be at the top of their game to keep the shirt. One poor game and you could find your spot in the starting line up at threat. This is a healthy position to be in of course

Yeah I agree, we will see in the coming weeks. I think Barnes plays more for his work rate and his ability to defend than his ability going forward.
It's not that simple. As we see with England for the past 15 years or so, that picking the 11 "best players" isn't as effective as picking the "best team". It's not about whether one individual is perceived to be a better player than another, it's about what each player brings to the team. If he is picked, Dobbie won't be picked just because he is better than barnes, he will be picked because he brings more to the team than barnes does, and that isn't just about football skills, but other things - ability to understand and execute instruction, discipline to stick to instructions, work rate, effort, character, how he fits with the rest of the team and their abilities and the importance of those abilities.
Is Dobbie going to replace Barnes? He probably will in some games, and not in others. I see the sort of selection pattern Gus had with Murray/Barnes/Wood, a rotation style depending on tactics for a game/opponent/form/training. Barnes is still young and is improving with every season as he learns more and gains experience. Dobbie is almost 30, is probably around his peak so his learning and improvement is probably at a plateau.
One of Barnes' qualities is that he scores off the bench almost as frequently as he scores from starts (last season he scored in 22% of games off the bench, 25% of games he starts; season before 27%v34%; season before 50%v50%) which isn't always the case, (I think in his last two years with us, Murray came off the bench 12 times and didn't score once; Nicky Forster had scored in 20% of games off the bench, 43% when starting in his last season with us). CMS had a poor return last season, skewing his record, for the record, though his is 16% off the bench v 18% from starts. So, even if he is dropped to the bench, I can see him contributing to the team.
