Mind - has anyone here been to Belgrade? I went to see Kraftwerk in February a few years back with a mate (tickets were 30 quid). Amazingly
friendly and nice people, beer was as cheap as chips (2.50 for a pint), great army museum and guided tour, the food was some of the best I've ever had. The only down side was that they allow smoking in every bar and restaurants and all the youngsters seem to smoke. But amazing place and people all the same. Not that this is relevant to the thread. Just saying.

Sounds like young Farage’s post Brexit heaven, no wonder he loves Djokovic and East Europeans. A much misunderstood man is Nige.

I found their triumphal announcement that ND has respected Australia somewhat mystifying, as I did the need to have numerous trophies on display at the table they were sitting behind. Not impressed and hope he gets nowhere near the final of the tournament if he is somehow allowed to participate.

Sincerely hope that every other player refuses to take to the court against him on the basis he's a f**king risk to their health. Watch the whole tournament implode and for him to take the full backlash as a result.

... was he all set up to not attend the tournament, and then miraculously got this positive test result and then by sheer luck he could attend with the exemption?

No

He was always going to this tournament, one thing he is good at is winning and wanting to win, he also wasn't going to have the vaccine.

Quite looking forward to the reception he gets from the crowd throughout the tournament. After all, the Aussies are the masters of sledging, and are hardly likely to 'behave' themselves.

Bring it on.

What was his plan for getting into the tournament before he ‘obtained’ his positive test result on the 16 Dec?

Did he have another strategy or was he working on the assumption he would definitely obtain a positive test result before the tournament (but not too close to the tournament)?

Seems so fishy. And he was out and about straight after the test result, didn’t seem to isolate in any way.

It’s annoying. He gets into Australia without being vaccinated on a technicality and seemingly doesn’t isolate for 14 days having tested positive in Serbia. A really disheartening example of cakeism.

Did he actually test positive or did he just set the test up? Either way, I hope he loses in the early rounds and that the Aussie supporters leave him in no doubt what the vast majority of their country think of him.

AUS could still deport him, they haven’t taken that decision yet.

The blame for this lays squarely with the Australian authorities not Novax.
He’s the one who was given an exemption by a collusion of Australia Tennis and the state authority because they were desperate for him to play.
The federal government did not intervene until there was blow back from the general public who were outraged on how the rich and famous had different rules applied to them on entry to Australia which was an issue before Novax

And could be on the grounds he may have lied on his declaration

Given he did not bother isolating when positive would hardly surprise me if he has flouted these as well (which the photos seem to suggest he has).

Whatever happens now he has tarnished his image and his crazy family parading about with people like Farage won’t be helping either.

Or you could just as easily argue that Djokovic (and his highly paid associates) didn't read the rules (or think they applied to them) for entry into Australia.

I've travelled a bit during this pandemic for work. I don't take the word of the person hosting the meeting about what I need to enter, I look it up myself.

he was granted exemption by 2 different inspection boards and given the go ahead by tennis australia and the federal govt. keep up. it's just a typical cock up by the c grade morons running this country , get the jab , take the jab , tell all yer mates take the jab ......meanwhile politicians are not required by law to get the jab , they are exempt........oh the irony just keeps piling up.

The funny thing is he didn’t need the exemption to enter the country, as I understand it even unjabbed he could have come in and done 14 days isolation in a luxury villa with practice court (at his own expense).

So this whole farce has been generated by his desire to avoid isolating for 14 days on arrival. Crazy.

Can you provide the evidence that he was 'given the go ahead by federal government'. As far as I've read of the court proceedings, the issue was not with cancelling the visa but with the time given to provide further information before cancelling the visa?

I really struggle to understand your angry flip flopping from one issue to the next on this thread.

Sorry, none of that makes sense. What go ahead was he given by the Federal Government ? That bit is crucial as their decision is the one that counts. What are politicians exempt from ? I wasn’t aware there was a legal requirement for any Australian to have the jab. There is exactly zero irony in what you have described.

the general consensus at this end is that the fed govt have allowed him entry in error ......the border force team under an interim minister ( our millionaire , day care owning , minister for security and home affairs is on leave) have stopped him upon entry , confiscating his phone which has then prevented him from providing any evidence in supporting his case ......all in all a complete balls up . Do Boris , Priti et all annoy the feck out of you...?? these bunch of cockheads over here are giving themselves more holidays , pay rises and signing up for deals that have not been put to the vote.....in short a pack of kants....thus my annoyance.

entry into australia is granted at federal level , at this point barnaby joyce , the deputy premier has held his hands up and said it was his mistake , djokovic would have been unable to board a flight to australia without a visa ......no matter what anyone says, you just cant do it . As of the 5th feb , in WA anyway , if you are not x2 vaxed you will be denied entry to any venue with a capacity greater than 500 patrons officially but smaller venues are being urged to adopt this stance .....large fines for punters and venues who do not comply.

So who are all those people on that Border Force programme being denied entry by border guards in Australian airports ? The answer is that they have self declared compliance with visa requirements but could not back it up upon arrival. Just like the tennis player. What is your point about the venue requirements? Are you saying politicians are somehow exempt ?
