I shall regard that as commentary from one of the most discredited posters on NSC.

I don't understand why if you were in France you'd be desperate to make it across the channel to the UK. If you were serious about seeking a new country to call home in Europe you'd look at Germany, Denmark, Sweden or Belgium long before the UK

This idea that we're an incredibly attractive place to live doesn't make any sense. There's no money here anymore. The cost of living has made the country prohibitively expensive. Even if you are lucky enough to find work, the national minimum wage is nowhere near enough to live on and contrary to popular belief you can't just rock up from overseas and start claiming benefits.
When our own population are leaving the country for work and money it seems incredibly unlikely that outsiders still see Britain as some kind of golden ticket. If you were serious about seeking a new country to call home in Europe you'd look at Germany, Denmark, Sweden or Belgium long before the UK
The report from the Chief Inspector is suggesting that if it could have been proved that an asylum seeker had been encountered in France on a previous attempt to enter the UK illegally, then they could be returned to France under the Dublin Regulation, i.e. they would have had an opportunity to claim asylum in France and therefore should be returned to France for the French to deal with.
No law that states this, as you rightly say, but a regulation that allows countries to return asylum seekers to another EU country if it is appropriate... all rendered rather pointless by UKBA not taking fingerprints when they first turf them out of lorries in Calais.
what a pathetic answer, maybe because immigration doesn't affect you doesn't mean others aren't affected ,ever thought about that one

Parked up by the side of the Ferry terminal yesterday in Dieppe trying to kill some time before getting on the Ferry. Another British car parked next to me was approached by two men.
Overheard the conversation, it appears they where two Albanians asking the driver lots of questions about the UK. Lorry from Czech Republic parked up with driver asleep in the cab a bit further down the road from me, so it was obvious what they where eventually heading for.
Decided to clear off before they moved on to me. Drove back up the hill and noticed another small group of people hanging about. Seems like Dieppe is slowly starting to inherit the problems Calais has, so be warned don't park near the terminal. Makes sense as the entrance to the Ferry at Dieppe has now been beefed up with security.
French must be getting sick of this crap. About time we stopped making the UK such an attractive place to come, i.e benefits, we really don't help ourselfes.
How does immigration affect you?
I wouldn't worry too much, judging by how slowly Transmanche unloaded the ferry I was on last night and how utterly slow and inefficient the Border Control officers at Newhaven were ( two doing some work while 5 milled around in the cabin behind him doing bugger all ), any immigrant that got across will have turned on their heals and gone back to France.
Your right, border control at Newhaven is a joke. The whole port is a real shabby affair compared to Dieppe. Lovely to see scrap metal pilled up on the side of the port as you roll in to Newhaven. I don't think Transmanche will be continuing for much longer if I am honest with you. The whole ferry servive is being paid for by the French, and we wont put any money in apparently. Could be wrong? It's why you don't get any British people working on the ferry which I was would say is fair enough, apart from the cleaners at this end and the port staff.
Someone in the councill turned decided it was a good idea to turn down Tesco's offer of building a new supermarket, which also meant regeneration of Newhaven Railway Station. That might have gone some way to get regeneration of the port going, but the council decided to go with ASDA's plan instead, and guess what ASDA have now pulled out. Newhaven is once again left with nothing.
It will be a pity if Newhaven closes as I use it regularly to get to France and I'd rather take 4-5 hours off my driving the other side and settle down for the 4 hours on the ferry with a good book. That said Transmanche really do need to go to Dover and see how to load and unload a ferry quickly.

It's the illegal ones that get right up my nose people taking the piss why I pay my taxes and the fact that my NIC contribution are helping out all the european fly by nightsHow does immigration affect you?
Gives him someone to blame for his complete reluctance or inability to take advantage of all the opportunities he was born into
Yeah i get your point , but what about the scummy somalians and all the other criminal groups that set up camp over here and take the piss don't deny it happens because you know it's trueImmigration has and does affect me. The Asian nurses that came and sat with my mother every night allowing her to pass away at home, the Sri Lankan that turns my green tomatoes into delicious curry, the Polish mate that gives me building work when I don't have enough regular work and also helps my elderly Stepfather around the house and allotment, the Pakistani chap who delivers free manure to all the elderly people in the area, the Polish family that helped my friend empty their basement of water when we had floods earlier in the year. I could go on but you get the point. It all hinges on how you interact wit your neighbours.

thanks for your time and effort on that oneSounds to me like it's just a cover for knee jerk racism. Are you racist?
I generally find this type of attitude comes from someone less aware of their consciousness/thought processes, they're in pain somehow, physically or emotionally, and because their not able to find the source, they bundle it up and let it out in an animalistic way. In my experience racists generally seem to have attained the conscious level similar to a pig.
Apologies if this is not you, and instead your living in fear, propagated by media for use as politician's scapegoats. They're not out to get you!
If it does sum you up, unfortunately you won't have understood any of this. Oink!
