Thunder Bolt
Silly old bat
One of the lounges.Agreed but what more would you do - assuming you think the concourse bar isn’t enough. Club acknowledges it’s a start and open to ideas ( says @attila ) so what exactly ?

Could be a statue with a plaque explaining what he did but I imagine that would go down like a cold cup of sick with Tony. Could be a stand naming but apparently we’re not doing that. Could be a lounge as @Thunder Bolt suggested. Could be a portrait, mural or other visual art with the same explainer. Could be something different that someone more creative than me comes up with. Shouldn’t be a bolted together concourse outlet.Agreed but what more would you do - assuming you think the concourse bar isn’t enough. My opinion, fwiw, he felt used as TB took over once the planning permission was granted. DK wanted to stay on the board but felt sidelined with Life President.Dick Knight probably shouldn't have did what he did with the book if he wanted continued recognition by the current board. Seems clear he has a chip on his shoulder about TB ending up taking the credit for the building of the stadium.

I can see why DK would feel that way but the logical bit is that, quite rightly, there was no way Tony was going to put his hand in his pocket to build the Amex without him owning the club. No sane person would do that.My opinion, fwiw, he felt used as TB took over once the planning permission was granted. DK wanted to stay on the board but felt sidelined with Life President.
Tony had been funding the fight for planning but it‘s a shame they couldn’t get along.
I don’t disagree but it’s very disappointing.Absolutely agree. However, whilst Tony is running the club we're probably going to have to accept that there's been some fairly deep falling out on both sides which is unlikely to be rectified. If it's not been solved in the 15 years since TB took over, I really can't see anything changing right now.
It really shouldn't have to be like that but ultimately that's the situation.
That is not what I was getting atBecause they wouldn’t have a club to support without Dick, and because history is one of the most important things a football club has.
Do you think England and West Ham fans shouldn’t know about Bobby Moore just because some were born after he died?
Agree.I think had he conducted himself with a bit more decorum, the current regime definitely would have been a bit more open to something a bit more meaningful than naming a kiosk after him. It’s all a bit of a shame really.
Well I believe a lot of it was in his book. He also made the stupid share offer in the book which he had no right to do without agreement of the other shareholders. I believe he resented the fact that Bloom took the plaudits at the opening of the stadium that he funded. What has he been saying? I'm genuinely unaware and might reserve judgement
Bollocks. My son is 18. He knows the words to build a bonfire, why we sing it and exactly what Archer and Bellotti did. He joins in. And with a permanent tribute other fathers could take their kids to it and explain. And the Storer goal and Hereford feature in the pre match montage. That is not what I was getting at
A lot of our fans do not know how much was done by knight, or care.
Try and start the “ build a bonfire” song where you sit and see how many join in
To Our current fan base those days are an irrelevance
You're possibly right but if I was fully funding a stadium I'd feel entitled to take centre stage! DK was the figurehead of the consortium that saved the club and he should rightly be remembered for that but at the end of the day, without Bloom's money we would have been saddled with a massive debt for the stadium from commercial lenders and I doubt we would have achieved half of what we have done.My opinion, fwiw, he felt used as TB took over once the planning permission was granted. DK wanted to stay on the board but felt sidelined with Life President.

I Dont think thats entirely fair or accurate on either side.Well I believe a lot of it was in his book. He also made the stupid share offer in the book which he had no right to do without agreement of the other shareholders. Did we lose on Saturday? Go on, get it startedRight, it's obvious: we need to start a collection for a bronze statue, to be located near the new Terrace. Nothing less. The north stand bar is borderline insulting, and shows an enormous error of judgement really. I don't care if there's been a falling out, like a mother of two, we older fans need to knock their heads together and help end whatever ill feeling still exists. It's our club isn't it? Or is that just a convenient corporate piece of messaging? In other words, a complete lie?
Absolutely would be up for donating to make this happen.Right, it's obvious: we need to start a collection for a bronze statue, to be located near the new Terrace.
I like the idea of a lounge - the only real example of anything else at the Amex named after a person is one of the restaurants (eg: mullery's , Bruno's, HB's) - perhaps a concourse bar is more Dick's style. Alright saying it shouldn't be this or that. But the bar is a start, its prominent, its seen / used by thousands every week , and explainers, visuals, etc can presumably be added. Not ideal how this has come about but then Dicks itself was never ideal and plenty on here never liked it.Could be a statue with a plaque explaining what he did but I imagine that would go down like a cold cup of sick with Tony. It’s really not my place to design what it should be but I’m massively underwhelmed with what it is currently. If the story telling is added to the current site then it’s something but it’s surely mostly limited to people who go in the north stand?I like the idea of a lounge - the only real example of anything else at the Amex named after a person is one of the restaurants (eg: mullery's , Bruno's, HB's) - perhaps a concourse bar is more Dick's style. Statues and Stands - well we don't have any named after anyone at the moment. Not sure Dick is where i'd start for either. Hard to tell. What does he actually want anyway ? Or maybe he's not that fussed ? Does anyone on here know ?
I think there's been some clumsy handling of the changes required as part of the £40m !! improvements to the stadium - rightfully pointed out by @attila and now partially addressed and acknowledged by the club. But its certainly not an active move to sideline "the clubs history" is it ? . There should also be plenty of scope to tell the story of the club in The Terrace presumably and plenty of chances to build on what is there in the North Stand especially if fans demand it.I don’t disagree but it’s very disappointing.
A well run club shouldn’t sideline its history just because of a fall out.
Well. Yes but not sure what you can come up with that everyone would see or use or engage with. I've been a season ticket holder for 14 years but I;ve never ever been in Dick's bar on a match day and i guess now i never will !it’s surely mostly limited to people who go in the north stand?
