For somebody that saved the club a bar on NS concourse really is poor recognition and would think whoever from club who broke the news to him was embarrased . Personally think a stand should be named after him or at least the new outside facility
I'm sure I've heard that somewhere previously. I had in my mind that it would become the new Dick's bar, but maybe I have misunderstood

From my perspective this is what happened. I heard Dick’s was closing, with no consultation with anyone (even those whose work was featured there, I guess they may have told the Fan Advisory Board, if they did the latter didn’t advise anyone else) and the plan was to put everything in the museum. I was very angry, rang Paul Camillin and said the artwork and poems were not museum pieces but living history for future generations to see and they should be in the North Stand. The plan was changed: there they are. (‘Goldstone Ghosts’ is at the far end.)

The bar was constructed in a few weeks. I agree it is nowhere near good enough, but better than nothing, and we should press for improvements, which are eminently possible. The atmosphere after the game was great.

In view Bruno now has more of a presence at the Amex than Dick Knight I think a rethink on naming rights is in order.

Neon lights above an existing serving counter is a great look

I reckon a lot of our younger fans don't really know, or appreciate what he did for the club. A young lad at my work who supports the Albion barely knew who he was and in conversation I think he was actually confusing him with Bill Archer!!!!

A permanent, visible reminder needs to be there. I think it would be a shame if that was kept back until he sadly passes away as I'd like to see him unveil it himself.

If anyone deserves a statue it's him

At the United away game it was great to see the statues they have to represent the history of their club. Surely a statue at the Amex of Dick Knight (and one of Tony) would be a worthy idea that we could campaign for?

For the legend that is Dick Knight that is a bit of an insult really from the original Dicks Bar to this. Sad

Bloom may have grown the club exponentially but Knight saved the club at it's lowest point. What a token, pathetic, effort.
When Dick wrested the club from Archer, he wisely kept Ray Bloom on the board of directors. He knew he needed him.

Can’t help but feel Dicks ill-advised ‘share offer’ did a significant amount more harm than any good
It was originally agree that no one person should ever own the club again, and Dick tried to get fans involved again. As you say, it was ill advised, but understandable.
I'm not saying Tony will ever do anything to harm the club, but who knows what will happen in the future.

Surely a petition is justified to the club to show them how supporters consider Dick Knight should have a substantial lasting high profile at the Amex not just a bar named after him in NS. As someone said even Bruno has a lounge named after him and he buggered off

"The Terrace" for the new fanzone construct is just generic meaningless bolleaux. "Dick's Bar" in big f*ck-off neon on the other hand would be a statement piece. Not that that would ever be officially sanctioned without serious fan pressure

🤣 you honestly think barber would listen to a petition, there’s no chance whatsoever he would

I wonder how many signatures this would get. Sadly, I think it might be a lot less than we would like to think. How many of the fans that were there through that period go to the Amex regularly now? It would be interesting to know.

I'd like to think the influence of the ageing demographic of the Amex is good for a few years yet. Tho it's influence is sadly waning year on year

Any news on the relocation of the fan mosaic? I have three now sadly departed family members on there.
