Being flippant here, but have we had anyone connected with the club whose surname is North, South, East or West? When the Amex opened, Tony Bloom said he didn't want any stands being named.

Didn't @attila just outline how he's fed back to the club some legitimate concerns about the closure of Dick's Bar and the museum, they listened and have changed what they intended to do with plans to do more. ?you honestly think barber would listen to a petition, there’s no chance whatsoever he would
Feel like we had a reserve goalie called something EastBeing flippant here, but have we had anyone connected with the club whose surname is North, South, East or West?
The margin for the club on sales of a football shirt is in single figures. A fiver per shirt if we’re lucky, most clubs make less than that.Mark up on booze isn’t great and they outsource catering anyway. Margins on Asian (presumably) manufactured tat must be massive.
So would I. But we moved into the Amex in 2011, it's 14 years ago now. And Bloom became Chairman in 2009. Anyone who was an adult for the Dick Knight era will now be over 40. Anyone who was middle aged will now be approaching retirement age. Anyone at retirement age will be approaching death. Anyone who was approaching death won't be here anymore. And there were only about 5,000 of us in the first place, weren't there? The actual hard-core support of the club. How many of them are left? 3,000 ish? Let's say you got half of them to sign this petition, which would take some doing. Would a petition of 5% of our average gate force the club to take action? It seems unlikely.I'd like to think the influence of the ageing demographic of the Amex is good for a few years yet. Tho it's influence is sadly waning year on year
Just to let you know that I’m still alive - well, I was the last time I looked . . . . . .So would I. But we moved into the Amex in 2011, it's 14 years ago now. And Bloom became Chairman in 2009. I am sure Dicks Stand would go down well with the away supporters..For somebody so important to saving club why cant a stand be named after Dick Knight
Conversely, that’s exactly why there should be more than a rebadged concourse outlet in DK’s name. Our new fans need to know why he was so important to our history. So would I. Indeed. However, the Board need to be bigger than that and recognise Dick in a more meaningful manner. If the neon lit North Stand bar is the extent of it then it's piss poor!Dick Knight probably shouldn't have did what he did with the book if he wanted continued recognition by the current board. Seems clear he has a chip on his shoulder about TB ending up taking the credit for the building of the stadium.
Why? He had a prominent bar named after him and was given the title of life president yet he still was sniping in the wings at the current regime.Indeed. I think had he conducted himself with a bit more decorum, the current regime definitely would have been a bit more open to something a bit more meaningful than naming a kiosk after him. It’s all a bit of a shame really. Why? He had a prominent bar named after him and was given the title of life president yet he still was sniping in the wings at the current regime.
Ok I will play devils advocate here. Why should our new fans need to know about something that happened before some of them were born and a lot of them didn’t even support the club. Let’s face it when we were at Withdean, we sold out most home games but that was between 5 and 6k , so we have had an extra influx of nearly 25k new or returning fans ( not many as we were only getting around 10k at the goldstone.Conversely, that’s exactly why there should be more than a rebadged concourse outlet in DK’s name. What has he been saying? I'm genuinely unaware and might reserve judgementWhy? He had a prominent bar named after him and was given the title of life president yet he still was sniping in the wings at the current regime.
Because they wouldn’t have a club to support without Dick, and because history is one of the most important things a football club has.Ok I will play devils advocate here. a lot of people think that bloom and his family is our saviour and think that knight was a pseudo caretaker until bloom wanted to step in.
a lot of kids don’t know him from Messi!
for us people who fought to save the club over many years, we know different, but lots even now are questioning that this even happened!
There was an issue with him refusing to give the club an advance copy I recall but can’t remember the specificsWhat has he been saying? I'm genuinely unaware and might reserve judgement
Agreed but what more would you do - assuming you think the concourse bar isn’t enough. Club acknowledges it’s a start and open to ideas ( says @attila ) so what exactly ?Because they wouldn’t have a club to support without Dick, and because history is one of the most important things a football club has.
Do you think England and West Ham fans shouldn’t know about Bobby Moore just because some were born after he died?
