Devolution Referendum

..Or whatever they are going to call it.

Late 2014 I believe - how long will it be before we are all heartily sick of hearing about the whole thing???

Scottish independence will mean the end of the United Kingdom - so why are the Jocks the only one's allowed to vote on it?

If anything, the English, Welsh and N.Irish should have a vote on whether to expel Scotland from the union for being such a pain in the arse.

Can we also kick the Welsh and Irish out at the same time as the Sweaties?

Sinn Fien & Plaid Cymru can then enjoy the Sink or Swim experience of modern life without us dreadful English telling them what to do.....

Exactly, like splitting up with a bird (albeit a miserable, obese one), we need to dump them first before they dump us!

it would certainly dent the Labour vote, 41 of 59 Scottish seats. maybe thats the driver behind giving the 16 votes and insisting on no mid-way option, let them go. would have meant a slim Tory majority at last election.

personally, i think it'll be a shame, we achieved so much together but i really cant be arsed to argue against them leaving if thats what they really want. we'll stay in touch im sure, like we do with the Irish.

funny thing is, they want to keep the monarch and the £, so its not really complete indepedence.

It's incredible what a patriot will do to their own countrymen in order to snatch their one and only chance to be the leader of an independent nation???

I guess you mean cameron (although the same could apply to Salmond). Cameron is a lightweight tory rich boy, surrounded by lightweight tory rich boys. Leader of the the Conservative and Unionist party??

To be fair to Cameron, he has spoken up very strongly in favour of The Union, even though it means a lot of Labour MPs from Scotland. Hopefully it will be Labour politians who speak for the Unon, as Scottish Tories are rarer than the proverbial rocking horse shit.

I think this will prove the end of Salmond, he will lose, and have to resign.

Hopefully it will also mean an end to Scottish MPs voting on English issues at Westminster.

I was actually referring to Salmond who, from my limited 2nd hand dealings is a particularly nasty selfish little twat (although i can see the confusion)

Interesting times ahead. If they vote to go it could be a nightmare to work out the split in terms of cash/resources etc. Probably best they stayed in so we can laugh at them

It`s a great idea, so long as the English tax payers are no longer expected to subsidise the scottish economy, for example ,road maintanance , education universities included , national health dentistry and cancer care included, some of which is currently free in scotland but not in England.I for one will be expecting a reduction in my tax bill once we are no longer looking after the sweaty socks
