As you very well know I’m suggesting that if we got 6 million for someone we sacked Bloom has committed literal daylight robbery.

I do think that the majority of those players were coming in whatever and may have actually affected the decision on which manager would be here to welcome them, rather than the other way round :shrug:
Totally agree. If people think we start the process of buying someone in the summer transfer window on the 1st day of the window, they've been playing too much Football Manager.

It's long been said that we watch players and talk to selling clubs for months and sometimes years before completing a signing.

There's no way Bloom saw De Zerbi leaving and then decided to just go "****it, he's gone now, I'm spending £200m", just as it's unlikely that RDZ didn't know what we were looking to sign. The key bit though, as both Bloom and Barber have said, is that these deals happen at the right time, for the right cost, based on the squad at that time and crucially on the selling clubs position.
