[Albion] De Zerbi was NOT “sacked”

The circumstances of the spending in the summer were ALL to do with a) the club’s very positive PSR position compared to the majority, which enabled us to get players usually out of reach and also get some players from clubs impacted (Minteh) and b) the impending rule changes.

In short, it would have happened regardless of anything manager-related at all.
I am not sure it would have done

We can't have been "courting" our current manager for very long, seeing as he had literally only BEEN a manager for about 18 months when we appointed him!
Eh?

he started coaching in 2016 and according to bloom at the time of his appointment…."From the start of the process to appoint our new head coach, Fabian was always a standout candidate and one who had caught our attention with his exceptional work at St Pauli over the past 18 months," Bloom said. The inference at the time was he was well known to our future proofing.

They would have said that whoever we appointed.

When we appointed RDZ, they said he was the only person we spoke with, but that doesn't mean he was the first choice/first one we approached. It's just all PR soundbites.

So you’re suggesting if RDZ was still there in the summer then TB would just ignored all of the positive circumstances in his favour in terms of the market?

Everything we know about TB suggests that wouldn’t have been the case.

As it happens, I think a few of the signings (most notably Wieffer and Ferdi) would have been EXACTLY the sort of ones RDZ was asking for when he was here. Slightly older and more established European players.

No, I am suggesting his requirements did not fit the thinking of the current ownership of the club, therefore it was a fait Accompli.
Exactly. They sacked him!

Given the reports that Marseille had to pay us €6m compensation in order to appoint RDZ, I suppose that the published accounts should eventually close this thread for good. We're all in awe of Tony's poker playing, but being paid compensation for an employee who had been sacked is surely beyond even him.

Yeah but it’s not as sensational as giving someone else to spend £200m purely out of spite

It amazes me how much of the club’s PR people on here lap up as gospel.

Your second statement may be correct.

Your first is accusing the club of lying.
I presume you are a 'Dick Knight was badly treated' man ???

How is this thread even still a thing?

I might start a thread on whether Brian Horton leaving for Port Vale could have been avoided.

No, but I work in marketing and this is what I do.

And it's not lying, it's saying something in the best possible way whilst omitting a detail which takes away the positive spin. The club say themselves they monitor managers and players across many leagues, and we know they met with McKenna early on in the appointment process. No club would ever say someone wasn't first choice.

As you very well know I’m suggesting that if we got 6 million for someone we sacked Bloom has committed literal daylight robbery.
