A friend of mine lost 9 stone in 2009 - he was a similar weight and size to you though younger (29). He gave up sugary drinks and some drinking, ate smaller portions, planned his meals for the week, made a packed lunch, made sure he had breakfast and spent 1/2 an hour every morning and 1/2 an hour every evening on a cross trainer thing in his lounge. I would suggest the above approach over any diet if you want to lose the weight at a safe pace and keep it off.

am looking at 2 pound a week, though am very aware first couple of weeks are possibly going to be perhaps a tad more, agree with the basics premise of what you say Folkestone, as i recently had heart scare i hace to be careful on the execrise. But so far anyway, am feeling fairly happy with things, ta for your input mate

I too have been doing very well with the eating, only munching on girly healthfoods all week HOWEVER this weather has made going out and doing any exercise f***ing hard work.

Managed a nice long walk on Tuesday but I've been housebound the last two days.

Keep at it team!

Well thats the weigh in done, lost 2 pound, and given that i have been so inactive this week I am more than happy, as i want it to be a gradual loss. That means 15 pounds total since December 2nd 2009. The encouraging thing for me is that to lose the remaining 78 pounds means only 1.56 pound a week this year....sounds so much more realistic when you look at it that way

well done mate:falmer:

Must keep checking in to this thread as a bit of motivation for myself. Go through phases of being good and then times of doing nothing. One problem is the only exercise I like is playing football and my knee and heel have been alternately hampering that the last 6 months.

Keep at it.

Top work.

Good to have an achievable goal and your target sounds very realistic. Best of luck that you can keep it up
