Decide to check my weight properly today as Boots closed New years Day. A suprise was that my last weight ticket was 24st - 2lb two days before Xmas Day. Must be only one to lose weight OVER Xmas as my official weight today is 23st-12lb. so my starting weight for this years attempt is 334 pound.

Well, 4 days in, and going fine, actually managed a whole mile walking today! bloody nora! only slip ive had was eating rather than binning some crappy crisps when having late night munchies. Will do first proper weigh in Friday. All the best to those who have gone on a health kick for 2010. and see, not a mention of Aston Villa...doh

...could just be random variation in your body weight and/or using different scales.

To monitor body weight more accurately you should use the same scales and the same time of day if daily, and same time of week if weekly.

Keep up the good work though. I am on a health kick as well, was suprprised to see so many people out jogging at 06:15 am this morning.

This is very very true. Always weigh yourself on the same scales at the same time of day.

Marathon training kicks off for me today. I'll be running part the way home - Purley to Reigate via Redhill, 15 miles.

P.S. NMH's first post was top drawer.

P.P.S Good luck highway61!

I'm on a big LARD losing drive starting Wednesday when my holiday is over... I've dusted off the old exercise bike and purchased a new set of weights to help!

Great input guys and good luck to you all. I do keep to same time and scales, same Boots shop and first thing in the morning on Fridays will be the scheduled weigh-in. Dont have scales at home or would be permanently checking!!

Could have been mate, very possible. I do know that Albion do have an input onto my health. In the past i got blitzed if we won and blitzed if we lost, a draw meant i did not care either way...so got blitzed...

a week or so after my heart scare wen we played at Saints i had to turn off the last 20 mins in case i had another attack lol

Highway, what i found worked for me was, like many basic diet,if you want more than water try low/cal ginger ale with ice etc,if you are bored you can well fell hungry if so do something to kill the boredom. At your weight try walking at a brisk pace keep to the flat ground say a mile at first a average pace should take 20 mins aim for 16 and do it every day. I went from 97 kilos to 73 in eight months. Gone back to 80 now,but that is because i have stopped cycling if you take exercise YOU MUST DO ONE YOU LIKE otherwise it will become a chore. I weighed myself twice a week and you will see a difference, now this is what i found really helped. Say you lose 10 lbs next time you are in the supermarket pick up something that weighs that amount (small bag of potatos) and carry it around for 15 mins you will soon get fed-up but it tells you what dead weight you are carrying !! Go to your G/P they will give you access to a dietican (?) and info and sound advice that is free. Good luck.:wave:

highway61... If you want some kind of exercise regime and diet guidelines then I would be happy to help.

Thanks cheers, appreciate that and the previous threads on exercise. My main concern at present is that i have to see GP friday, Specialist on monday regarding the heart problem, and the pretty bad breathing issues. Today i walked a mile all told, and by time back i needed a good rest, and BP is around 166-170 over 116-118 according to surgery. But i agree with all thats been said thus far. I enjoy cycling so will be back on that when i get go ahead, and also have 4 months left on gym subscrition, so hope to get to do some light stuff there feb and mar

If you want something in detail then drop me a PM but the basics are:

. Cut down to about 1800-2000 calories per day
. Eat plenty of Omega 3 and Iron. They will strengthen the heart, bones and joints and will enable you to grow stronger so you can increase your exercise load and thus loose weight.
. Obviously vegetables and fruit are a must but Lentils and kidney beans are equally as good with low fat content and the lentls will give you energy in the form of carbs.
. If you have the money as these things are pricey Maximuscles Promax diet shake is a massive help and can be a meal replacement. It contains proteins, essential fats and vitamins that will be beneficial to you when taken alongside a balanced diet. Also once you are below 20 stone fat burners are effective as they raise body temperatures by 1 degree with no strain on the heart and will make you sweat more, thus loosing more weight.

As I said just drop me a P.M. and I will give you some sort of easy to do yet highly effective plan.

Something that has really encouraged me in the last few minutes. You will recall that when i weighed in proper a pre-xmas scales reading printed out that i had lost 4 pound over xmas.. that was good to know, but i have just been clearing out my desk area at home and have found a scales ticket from exactly a month ago. I had to look twice, as it was 24st -11 pound! basically it means that when starting my regime for 2010, i had actually lost a stone since 3rd December 2009....sad i know but have the 24st-11lb ticket framed lol
