Can’t be arsed to read all this. Where in the usual trajectory are we?

1) Full denial, it’s fake/pocket dial/account hacked etc
2) Evidence is now substantial; changes story to I made an error of judgement.
3) more evidence and now a full apology and claims addiction/depression/abused as a child.
4) Checks in to rehab/clinic so 3) looks more convincing.

There is a great podcast out there with former ref Kevin Lynch. Here he is admitting to not giving fouls against Ian Wright because he was being awkward to referee. Obviously the difference is he's long retired now, but you can guarantee every referee has turned a blind eye to something or given something they shouldn't have done because a player has been a bit of a dick at some point.

Worth noting this bloke has been called out for making a lot of these stories up, one involving Keane and Neville springs to mind

I actually feel sorry for him. Whoever that bloke is has probably blackmailed him and his family and he’s had to stand up and say I’ll take what’s coming.

He is right about Klopp though.

These refs get 1500 quid a game, it’s not a lot when you consider the money that a floating around

His career now seems wrecked for not much

What difference does it make if it was offside? It was a sending off whatever the situation.
It was a reckless challenge, but the ball was already dead, so no penalty. Had it not been Liverpool's best player and had he not done his cruciate, that would have been the end of it. No Liverpool players were in the ref's face demanding a red on the pitch that day, they were hoping for a VAR onside call that would allow a penalty. The furore started after the seriousness of the injury became apparent and the media's army of former Liverpool players realised that their title chances had been badly affected and that a grievance could be pushed.

Plus expenses, plus food night before and day of game… accommodation etc. It’s not a bad gig at all.
For all the vitriol and threats they get, I would say it's not a great deal.

NSC after a match is an absolute love in compared to other places.

IF that video is him then I guess he has cooked his own goose. I'm more concerned about the reaction of a few Liverpool loonies. If he loses his job he'll have to accept it. But that's enough. Unfortunately, not for the gutter dwellers though.

I don’t like the way that over-excitable Geordie commentator on 5 Live pronounces his name (“Referee Khooot”), so if he has to step down, it’s not all bad.

This is really unprofessional and he’s clearly off his face. Not great for someone that has quite expensive decisions to make. Doesn’t matter if he thinks Klopp is a **** or not.

Do you want a ref / VAR that’s been on the bag all night or one that went to bed at 10pm with a mug of camomile?

The PGMOL is looking like a bunch of mugs here. “Good process lads”.

If it's true about the Liverpool players being restrained in their reaction then credit to them. Again it's irrelevant what happened afterwards or anything else about media people, that's nonsense. It wasn't just a reckless challenge, it was awful, worse than the O Reilly one imo, which in my book was definitely a red. I personally couldn't care less about Liverpool winning or losing a title, it was simply a red card all the way.

That is crazy, to put it in context in the NFL the starting ref gets $204,000 a year for 18 games. The PL should really ask itself where they choose to invest. I double checked- they make £70k a year including retainer, or about half. If they want the best, like with the players, perhaps they should pay more? Of course £70k is not a bad salary, but they are at the top of the pyramid and put up with far more sh@t than most of us…

They make between 70k and 200k a year. The 1k per match is on top of that so they can earn (if they do a game and then var /4th official per weekend) c120k to 240k per year as well as expenses (and free food which don't forget they complain about)

It was an awful challenge, but if the ball is dead, my understanding is the ref can't give a red unless it's violent contact, which would be impossible to prove, even though most of us have our doubts Pickford didn't know what he was doing.

Very funny. And he’s not wrong about Klopp.

Luckily it’s not against a team with a fan base who are certain the establishment are against them so I’m this story will just quietly disapear.

Really now hoping for a video of Stuart Atwell slating Arsenal and calling Arteta a ****. Another fan base who are known for their calm and rational response to any negative coverage of their club.
