Spot on. f*** 'em. They built on the land without planning permission, then played a game knowing it would cost the tax payer £18m to call them to account.

Well £18m has now been spent and they have nowhere to live. Should have thought about that before they took the piss, shouldn't they?
I also bet that locals who are on the council housing list are "miffed" to say the least that they have managed to pluck offers of council houses out of thin air for the travellers.

I heard on the radio that two female protesters had immersed their hands in barrels of concrete....i'm not sure it that was in the " front line" as it were, it may be in the R&R area behind the main confrontation, could be interesting if they had a dungaree malfunction !

One of the last forms of accepted racism. What cnuts humans can be to other humans sometimes. Very sad day.

I hate to tell you but I doubt that many, if any of them are God Botherers. You obvioulsy have never had the 'pleasure' of having 'travellers' living near you. If you had I doubt that even your pious outlook would have anything more than contempt. For the record, these people have broken and flouted the law. The fact that whereever they gather tends to bring a crime wave to the area is not a coincidence. Still, if you feel so strongly why not let them park in your back garden ?

I had some of them up here in the summer. I don't mind them living local if there is a designated place for them to go or they own land locally. Just don't want them in a family park, which is fair enough.

guaranteed injuries and arrests....

all very medieval - siege, drawbridge, watchtowers.

pretty stupid for 2011 really.
pathetic, reporters inside and outside , people running around with cameras and the press likening it to Rorke's drift scenario " THEIR RETREATING TO THEIR SECOND LINE OF DEFENCE ", cringe worthy :nono:

Up here where ? How close ? Get it through your head, these people have ignored the law and are now trying to make out they're being victimised.

And i'm saying that they could have come to a middle ground where nobody had to be evicted. The travelling community make up a tiny tiny proportion of our population who choose to live a nomadic lifestyle (which most of us wouldn't want) and have to live with prejudice wherever they go.

Hold on, what do you mean other accounts I 'may own?' I'll stick my hands up for what I post (as I have above), but you can't start throwing me in with other accounts I 'might' have something to do with!

Got a new Home (Don't begrudge the Homeless)

If you are evicted from a mobile home, you are entitled to a Council House by law. This is because caravan and boat dwellers do not get security of tenure. Whether this is enforcable with an illegal site is a different matter and you will get a rotten council property anyway, so they may very well refuse.

As a platform for idealists it is a bad cause. For homes fit for humans, it may have merits publicity wise.

Well the law is an ass then, they can all afford private housing , its naivete and misplaced idealism if you think otherwise.
