Anyone wants the lowdown, I suggest you ask sooner rather than later, as Philly threw a lot of info at me.

Stupid ITTs.

Lorena Wiebes won every stage save one of the Baloise Ladies Tour but was second overall. What a sack of cack.

Looking for a bit of advice from the good folk of NSC.
I'm going on my first bike packing trip next month - camping mainly. Up til now just gone on local rides but nothing too far from home.
I'll be taking the ferry to Bilbao and then going over the Pyrenees, then through the Dordogne and up to Caen.
Just wanted to know the really important things to take that people often forget. Petrified I'm going to be stuck somewhere with a technical issue.
Also, has anyone cycled around the areas I'm going - what are the best places to go or areas to avoid.

Wow, that’s some ride !

I can’t help much, never cycled that end of the Pyrenees, or the rest of your journey- but the French have got cycle routes sussed- there must be loads online.

Good luck! I hope you will return regularly and give us a diary of how you’re getting on.

I can. I will get one when I am too old to do it without ‘assistance’.

Is the correct answer.
Im not too proud to say I wont be slogging my way up the hills in a few years without any help....probably sooner than later tbh with the problems Im having with my knee these days.
Already looking at whats out there for when that time comes...just need to decide what will be the best option.

Road - Gravel - MTB ? ???

I wish I could offer help from experience, but my first bikepacking won't be til the coming Autumn.

However, these may help if you haven't already seen them?

I commute on a Cube hardtail E-MTB and at the weekend go out for a ride with mates over the downs, can't keep up with my mate on his full sus carbon jobbie but have plenty of fun.

The only reason I've gone for that is I am very much on the larger end of the riding scale, if you're not a Clyde then I think a gravel bike with some assistance would probably be perfect for me.

Popped a suspension seat post on it a week ago and it is probably the best £60 I've spent.

Oooooph! Have you been training much? If so, what has that entailed?

Nothing specific just some Zwift and some local rides. What does concern me a bit is I normally on out on my Ribble road bike but went out yesterday on my Salsa Vaya touring. Knackered after as it is much heavier. That's without all the extra load I need to take.
