Except that it is usually from too deep so the ball keeps going through to the central defenders standing on the penalty spot. If we could get him to move to within 5 or 6 yds of the goal line that would be a benefit.

Funnily enough I doubt he wouldn have played 519 games if your assessment of him was correct.

You seem obsessed with the notion that to be dangerous, a cross needs to come in from the goal-line. Sure if a pacey player gets behind the defence and crosses from the goal-line of course its dangerous. But there are also PLENTY of goals scored from a quality cross from further back, if the forward is savvy enough to make some space for himself.

How many goals did we see flying in from Zamora, courtesy of the right boot of Paul Watson ? Watson never had to beat his opposite number to deliver a quality ball into the box. He wasn't particularly quick either. But he could deliver a ball from deeper, with whip and curl, and of course with the likes of Zamora to aim for, we made mincemeat of the dullards in this league.

THATS the kind of service that we need for our strikers this season, and Currie could deliver it in spades.

I daren't even ask this but..... - has he actually signed anything - the threads are so numberous now it is rather laborious picking through everything that has been written

not as yet no , they'll no doubt be a billion threads saying such when he actually puts pen to paper

Just looked at Darren Currie's profile on Wiki and was amused to read, right at the bottom:
"In July 2008 Currie rejoined Brighton and Hove Albion from Luton. Luton fans never took to his style of play, and he returned to Brighton as part of Micky Adams' attempt to create a more attacking side at Withdean."
Interesting...

The Argus have blatently only printed this because so many NSC rumours have been right this summer and because this one is ALL over NSC.

I'll believe it when i see it.

Would be a bloody good squad player.

thought Mcleod was a winger as well unless Currie will come-on when we are chasing the game..(if he signs of course)

I have to say I'd be a bit disappointed if we signed Currie.
Not a great impact player, only useful at free-kicks and to have him in the squad for that he'd be a 'luxury'. Even his free-kicks always ended in the grateful arms of the opposing keeper - basically EVERY time.

In my opinion, he's DK's choice rather than MA's, and he will get dropped to the reserves quickly, only to express his own foibles with that.
Sorry, but I know loads of people are impressed by him, but not me.

Adams took him on loan whilst at Coventry, so one could speculate that he has always rated him highly. Plus, Adams does not seem to be the sort of fella that would chase after someone elses player. He knows the importance of a set piece specialist which is partly why Paul Watson was such a prominent figure during the Micky years.
