It was from a cross by Bennett in the first half that went across the gaol inside the 6 yd box.

Of the two I would say Dickenson looks to a far better choice than Davies who was generally full of running and nothing else tonight. If we were still playing now I would expect him to have scored. I think that his days could be numbered.
well your not the manager, so it doesnt make a difference what you think or say mate.

If it's the one I'm thinking of I still wouldn't call it a tap in, though as I said neither covered themselves in glory in front of goal.

The reason why I thought Davies looked better tonight was that although both lost possession quite frequently, he was a bit more likely to keep it himself or give it to a teammate. There's not a great deal to choose between them anyway.

All I can say after tonights performance by both Dickenson and Davies is I sincerely hope Forster and Murray stay fit for the entire season.

To be honest, neither of them looked much like scoring.

Agreed Davies looks out of his depth at this standard. His reading of what is going on around him is poor. Other players were making runs which would have put them clear on goal but he never looks up and therefore does not see them. He runs around a lot with no end result. Can see him going in January. Dickinson offers bit more and won more balls in the air, but he has got the touch of an elephant and the grace of Bambi on ice. Think we may need another striker in January if we are going to get up the table, two if Murray goes. Thought Tunnicliffe was class tonight.

Like all other posters on here it is just my opinion that you can either agree with or disagree and thus provide a topic for discussion.
not having ago at you mate. but this guy took alot of shit from fans when we had major issues with the defence but there wasnt threads started every five minutes about the back four. davies has scored in the reserves and maybe the new management team will give him the confidence he needs. it just pisses me of when fans dont go to the games but run down all the players

No offence but thats utter shite. Players like Revell weren't scoring a "hat-trick" every game and still got the support. The problem with Davies last night is that he just didn't look interested at all. You can accept laziness if the player can actually find the net (a la Murray - Not that I think he is that lazy but it's a stick he's often beaten with!) but Davies last night didn't do anything. I quite like Davies but the Wycombe game didn't really help him. He certainly didn't give Poyet a difficult decision to make about who to start in the next game.

I disagree with this. One thing that he did do right last night was 'try'. I really think he is worth persevering and believe, as many others say, he just needs a goal. Never seen a player look so demoralised as Davies looked last night after not scoring after rounding the keeper. Really felt for him actually.
I think his biggest problem is not getting himself quickly enough into the box as the crosses are coming in. 'If you dont buy a ticket'.....

Davies is definitely not lazy.

The poor bloke is neither lazy nor is he useless. He's just desperately unlucky and I feel sorry for him, it's not pleasant to watch. In the very nicest possible way, I could easily see him thriving but at another club. Let's see what some coaching for the new gaffer can do for him.
