How about the goal he scored agasint Wycombe that was unjustly dissalowed? You know the one the other week where he left the centre-half for dead and placed his shot into the top corner. That was a good finish and example of creating a chance, wasn't it?

He has a stronger build (He's two stone heavier and is still quicker) than Dickinson and wins more in the air. Dickinson wins very few headers over the course of a game. I'm not convinced either of them are great finishers, and neither of them should be starting, but I think Davies poses slightly more of a threat than Dickinson.

Out of interest what has Dickinson done to prove to you he's good enough?

He moves around the pitch like a penguin, acts like a petulant kid (on and off the field), gets bullied off the ball by defenders and 50% of the time have a poor first touch.
spot on . also he is a piss head

Had to feel sorry for him tonight. Should have had a penalty but Crofts scored the loose ball. Bennett tried to pass to him instead of shooting shen clean through on goal. He also went clean through, took it round the goalie but almost off the pitch.

Lots of effort but no product as yet...

On the evidence that we've seen, anyone who thinks Davies is better than Dickinson must be off their head. That doesn't mean I think Davies is shit or Dickinson is the second coming, he has plenty of faults, but he is a better forward than Davies.

Look at our only goal against Huddersfield and tell me Dickinson isn't a good finisher, and do any of you think that Davies would have the composure to set up goals like Dickinson did on sunday or at Carlisle away. I still maintain that Davies would be a better winger than a forward,

Anyone care to give a fair report of our Craig's performance this evening? I was playing in a pool competition so could only follow by bbc text on my mobile, thank you.

listening to the commentary on sussex, it seemed davies missed a simple tap-in, in the
1st half, commentator said even he couldve scored it, is it true?

Basically it looks like he still can't hit a barn door from 6 paces :nono:

Sorry it's not that i doubt you but were you at the game?

Right - Davies.

Lots of running, some neat touches, put himself about and won a few tackles. Generally speaking, he wasn't dreadful.

However, the big moment was with 3 minutes to go, he was clean through on goal, got the about the penalty spot, but instead of slotting it past the keeper, tried to take it round him and f***ed it up.

Typical Davies, gets in the positions, but couldn't hit a barndoor. And as a striker, that's just not good enough.

Hmm, I may be being a complete idiot but I can't remember any tap ins missed, though it wasn't a great display of finishing. In the second half he was through on goal, but his touch was poor when trying to take it round the keeper and he ended up too wide and close to the goal line to even get a shot away.
I think it confirmed what we already knew (with all the fringe players actually), he tries hard, got a bit of pace, but he's not great. At least he looked marginally better than Dickinson.

I make no excuses i'm a big fan of Davies so perhaps i'm a little shortsighted with my opinion of him BUT it seems to me he does alot right but has and is failing to find the target. Surely you must see some potential in him?

I know he has been given plenty of chances but I still have faith in him and maybe i'm f***ing crazy but I feel he has alot to offer to the club and feel his contribution will evenually lead to a hat full of goals.

Davies was quite industrious but he is so low on confidence. He looked absolutely desperate to score which is good but he never got near.

The most striking point (no pun intended) was his reaction at the final whistle he looked disconsolate even though we'd won!

All I can say after tonights performance by both Dickenson and Davies is I sincerely hope Forster and Murray stay fit for the entire season.

To be honest, neither of them looked much like scoring.

why the f*** do people always slate our own players!!

lets face it we are in the 3rd tier of english football and we are never going to have a rooney or a drogba??! what do you expect???

we have 4/5 strikers who i feel are the best bunch we have had for as long as i can remember???

we normally relie on one striker.. ie.. Zamora, Knight, Freeman, Nogan...??

at least now we have a few better options alongside Forster who i think is out first choice!!

just thing back to the days of Mcphee, Ramsay, Fox etc etc

It was from a cross by Bennett in the first half that went across the gaol inside the 6 yd box.

Of the two I would say Dickenson looks to a far better choice than Davies who was generally full of running and nothing else tonight. If we were still playing now I would expect him to have scored. I think that his days could be numbered.
