If the club lets Lynch and Tiny go in January for less than what they are worth, the board are looking long term at getting to Falmer, whatever it takes and we have to respect their decision. It also means looking forwards to League 1 football for the next 3 years as we sell off the best talent produced by the youth set up for over 40 years. The FA cup money wont go far and is probably already set aside. Unless the magic of the cup intervenes and we get Manure or Arse 'n' All away in the 4th round we are destined to follow the footsteps of Crewe until we reach the promised land.

good point , this is the best group of players we have ever produced . This lot beat Chelsea and Blackburn in the youth cup and are looking decent being blooded in Legue 1

No way and I mean NO WAY should we accept 250k for our best youth product I can ever rememember.

If we accept that amount then there will be serious up roar.

That takes the piss. !!!!!!!!

Dick , NOT YET !!!!! 250K NOW WILL LOOK A BIGGER JOKE IN LESS THAN A YEAR . PLEASE !!!!!!

If the board sell Cox for £250k it is outrageous, he must be worth at least £750k - £1million. Just because we're in financial difficulties, dosen't mean we should let other clubs rip us off. Lynch going would be a blow but not as bad as if Cox goes.

I know its all rumours and it is the silly season after all but why would a club let a centre back go for 500k but let a goal scoring midfielder got for 250k. Personally I think its crap

I heard through a very good source that we will be selling no one in the window and that Whing and Bowditch will both sign plus another.

I'm sure the board know what they are doing. These are the same people who got £1 million for Virgo, got £££'s for Barry and Standing when others would have got nothing, and got decent money for Currie and Cullip when things were difficult. And don't forget Harding who lets face it has never set the footballing world on fire since he left. The board got a good deal out of Leeds for that one, when Harding was happy to walk out on the club for next to nothing.

The club is a business with banks and lenders wanting money paid back. If we have not got any then we have to sell our only assets i.e our good players - simple really! Its the boards job to get the best deal possible and this is not always the upfront cash figure quoted on transfer fees. Sell on clause, appearance bonuses

Remember our last board sold our best asset for peanuts - the Goldstone :censored: If Knight could have taken over the club with the Goldstone unsold then things would be very different now. At least we would have got £20 million + extra in the bank from selling it.

The financial crisis at the moment isn't so much about "Falmer" as the half million pounds across the season that we are losing because crowds are so small.

"Kids for a Quid" won't solve that problem. A tempting offer for one player would.

I hope no-one's expecting the money from the WHU game to be spent on anything other than plugging a budget deficit.

Is 250k a tempting offer though? I doubt there's much truth in this rumour, but i might be wrong. If we were to let go of the man who's probably been our best player this season for such a small fee, then we're going to lose even more in revenue. We won't be winning games if we sell our players, and there'll be no hope of us achieving promotion, meaning crowds will fall further. How are we going to start winning games, challenge further up the league and eventually win the crowds (and much needed revenue) back when we've lost our best players?!?!

Exactly , mid/lower table mediocrity without one of our few 'personality' players will cause the attendance to be even lower.

Like WW I don't necessarily believe the rumour; but since it has moved from being unsubstantiated rumour to cast iron 'fact' in less than 1 page I'll wade in and add my fuzzy Saturday morning thoughts:

£250k? For a relatively unproven League One player, albeit one showing huge amounts of potential, I would say that is probably the going rate in today's market? I would imagine the fee would be around £250K up-front, with additional money based on appearances plus a sizeable 'sell-on' clause based on any value realised above and beyond the original fee.

That seems to be the way things work nowadays

Having said that, still think it is a load of pony.

I confidently predicit this is utter bollocks. I think Lynch and Cox will both go in January but for between 500k and 750k for each.

Not sure about the specifics of the deal but cox going is a definite worry.

Wilkins quote about him being out for today's game sounds a bit wishy washy...

"It's down the amount of games he has played and overuse. At the moment it looks as if there is no serious damage, but he is getting pain around the knee area."

Cox will be worth more tha 250k if we hold on to him for another season.

West ham will pay some of the debta and who knows we might win so why sell one of the better players.
I dio think we are shit in on the selling side of the transfer market though, Virgo aside, and wouuld hope DK does not sell our best young players again.

A mug is one thing that DK definitely is not. The way he has dealt with clubs buying our players and with tribunals over Barry & Harding has certainly brought in more that £2M that we wouldn't have had otherwise.

In fact, the only time we lost out was with Bobby Z when, if we'd sold him when offered £3M (by Everton?), we would have done well. As it was, the collapse of ITV Digital left the whole market deflated.
