A mug is one thing that DK definitely is not. The way he has dealt with clubs buying our players and with tribunals over Barry & Harding has certainly brought in more that £2M that we wouldn't have had otherwise.

In fact, the only time we lost out was with Bobby Z when, if we'd sold him when offered £3M (by Everton?), we would have done well. As it was, the collapse of ITV Digital left the whole market deflated.

spot on.

£250k for Cox isn't bad if there is a sell on/extra per games played clause. As we discovered last week when he is marked tightly he struggles to make an impact - hopefully he will learn to cope with it as he matures.

Lynch will become a good/better player and in our position £500k is a good price. We might kick ourselves in three years time when someone sells him for £2m+ but 1) it might not happen and 2) we need the money now unless we want to pay even more for tickets next season.

Are we so skint that we can't afford for Cox to get injured during December and ruin a January transfer?

Does Wilkins really need/want promotion this season? I wouldn't in his shoes - gradual improvement will keep him in a job, promotion followed by relegation won't - ask Pardew and McGhee.

This is all complete Pony. Cox and Lynch are going nowhere apart from for funny money. We sold Danny Cullip and Darren Currie for the same money a few years back, and the market has gone up and POTENTIAL costs more than players at the end of their careers. Harding went for more and he wanted out.

I would expect none of our players to go in January, unless silly money is offered, in which case we take it and start again.

Remember we have already sold CKR this year and have a jucy 3rd round FA Cup tie. I trust the board as they seem to have done alright with the previous sales.

I fully understand the financial plight and there is no way we will turn down all offers. We must expect players to be sold, we cant survive financially without doing so, but I wouldn't be very happy at Cox going for such a small amount of money.

Despite our financial position we must try to stay strong and hold out for good money, or keep them while they are improving and he'll be worth even more further down the line.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
All this Stoke rumours are all very well, but I have it on good authority that Dick Knight is giving Portsmouth first option on Lynch whatever Stoke are punting out.

DP is right tho BOTH will be gone by the end of Jan.

I heard through a very good source that we will be selling no one in the window and that Whing and Bowditch will both sign plus another.

I think that would be cack money. The add-on clauses can often bring you nothing as players get left out as they approach the game that will cost the club extra money, and sell-on clauses can be avoided by doing a swap deal, and setting the "value" of the deal accordingly so you get nowt.

Anyway, if we are selling it's because we need the money NOW.

The club will lose far more in gate revenue long term if they let potentially our best player go for 250k, a derisory sum for such a promising player. Absolute madness unless finances are that bad. If they are MP's comments about not needing to sell anyone only two weeks ago were lies and his head should roll with Cox's exit.

500k plus and I could live with it though

250 is a pittance. No sell, no way Mr Knight.
Anyway, we need to retain players who have such potential for the team, and potential to increase in value!

Strong rumour going round that Cox is going to Sunderland for £250,000. The Lynch to Stoke rumour is already well known, I heard he's going for £500,000.

£750,000 for two players brought up through the youth team that will end up in "the Falmer black hole" leaving us with...nothing.

Fabulous innit.

Where is this coming from ? It's so irresponsible to post something like this without any evidence, a quote, or anything of substance to back this claim up. Also £250 k for Cox is a complete joke, we'd never sell him for that.

I don't believe you.

Typical Harty im afraid. A completly unfounded rumour from NSC goes out on the radio.

I don't have a problem with that. It creates debate on here, it'll create debate on the radio. Who's to say the rumour doesn't have some truth in it? Only DP really knows....

Whether of not there is any truth on it I dont think you can take an unfounded rumour from an internet message board and put it on local radio.

Why not?

What difference does it make if it comes from the People or NSC? Harty has called it a 'rumour', he's not saying it's fact.

What's the problem?

NSC is very well know for wind-ups. Just find it a little annoying that something which has been mentioned no-where else apart from here is brought up.
