Could we have a striker?

You are a condescending b.....d. I have put forward an idea which whether it be good bad or indifferent and all you have to offer is lame excuse of what the lost revenue would do in some years time.

It's a bad idea BG, for the reasons I've explained - lost revenue if the first year is not a "lame excuse".

You keep raising the parallels with Arsenal. They have planning permission, we do not. They are building their stadium, we are not.

Once Falmer is in place, no doubt the club will be able to sit down and work out what discounts we can afford for buying the early loyalty. We are nowhere near that point yet and it would be financially reckless for the board to now indulge in guesswork and tie the hands whoever is running the club when we get Falmer, whether that's Perry himself or someone else.

And I'm amused at the fact that I'm patiently and rationally pointing out the flaws in your plan, and all you can do is indulge in ignorant and childish name-calling. That's your right, of course, but you've come a long way from the "rules" you so piously laid out on NSC a view days ago, haven't you?

That's right. And we can't cripple the revenue streams of the club in the first year of Falmer by giving away season tickets at below their true value. You don't run football clubs that way, unless you're Peter Ridsdale.

The option of improving the cash flow of the club by buying future season tickets already exists. It's called a 3-year ST. I got one a few months ago, and I'm sure if you ask Martin Perry nicely, he'll sell you one too.

LI - are you reading whats posted? DEPOSIT on season ticket ...not the big discount you are on about:shootself

In that case, there would be no incentive for people to take it up, would there? So the idea that 6,000 would do it and this scheme would raise heaps is utter fantasy, isn't it? :shootself

Everyone is allready "guarenteed" a season ticket at Falmer. It's a 22,000-seater stadium.

How many people already take up 3-year season tickets? That would be the number of punters you would be talking about.

And anyone in charge of the club like Martin Perry DOES have to worry about how tax-efficient such a scheme is, other forms of borrowing might be cheaper for the club.

And the idea that you could lose all this money if the planning application is not approved is THE insurmountable obstacle. The bad publicity and the huge ill will that would generate among supporters is potentially nightmarish.

Nice idea, BG...

In spite of LI's usual destructive criticism, the club need to recognise that they will NEVER reach the target of £2M+ with the current A&K scheme... any shortfall is down to the shortcomings of the current scheme (wanting a lot from the fans for very little in return), and this, in turn, is down to the lack of imagination of the club...

PS. I have already given my £250 but I know that many believe the club are coming round with the begging bowl once too often... :(

There cannot be a cheaper form of borrowing because this scheme would cost the club absolutely nothing. The supporters paying the £200 would even DONATE the VAT element of £35.

Using the 3 year season ticket as an argument is flawed because come season 2006/7 we will, irrespective of the result of the planning application, still be playing somewhere other than our new ground, whether it be Withdean or any other shared ground and receiving less income for the privelege as it has been used up this season. What will happen will they come around with the begging bowls again, just once more. Perhaps the new ground will be on its way and they will be able to borrow against the footings that have been laid for the ground to stand on.

As I have said previously this would not be a PR disaster because everybody would be made well aware of the comditions and the possible loss if the planning application went tits up.

No different than the current scheme - £250 in - no return , like all investment as long as the risks are clearly laid down at the outset there is no problem.

Changing the subject completely, what if anything is happening re the supporters Trust mentioned at the fund forum?

For the first time in 7 years I didnt renew my Season ticket for me and my 2 lads .

I would willingly stump up the required £230.00 for each of us if I was to get a Reduced price Season Ticket for the first season in the new ground and also I would be willing to take the gamble of losing the whole lot.

We don't need to be fundraising for the Inland Revenue, thanks all the same.
