Played the first hour , which is what Gus wanted from him today.

Me too. Chances drop to him, and he puts them away more often than not. It's not luck, it's not coincidance. His movement is a lot cleverer than people realise, and his finishing with both feet doesn't let him down. There was a stat posted on here earlier on that Leon Knight scored 30 goals in 103 games for us, Barnes has 33 in 90 (I might be slightly wrong with the appearance stats but that was pretty much it).

The thing about Barnes' movement is he's often coming from a position where he wouldn't be if he was the focal striker, I'm not sure it would translate so easily.

The thing about Barnes' movement is he's often coming from a position where he wouldn't be if he was the focal striker, I'm not sure it would translate so easily.

He has to come in from that sort of position because he's rarely the central striker, he's rarely the guy right up front. He'd learn how to play the outright position if he was played there. The truth is he doesn't, but he still scores goals.

From the OS :68: Vicente runs at the Cordoba defence and cuts in off the right wing. The following effort draws another impressive save from Garcia and Barnes's follow-up drifts over the bar.

Barnes is an instinctive finisher, you can't learn that. I can see him developing into an excellent centre forward.

He will probably develop into an average striker as you say,but isn`t Tony spending money trying for promotion this season.If so we must sign a decent striker before the season starts
