They are both completely wrong! My friend eats pot noodle sandwiches, I tried it and couldn't understand why they didn't just leave it in the pot! Not revolting but just unnecessary!

Fresh sliced strawberries with a light sprinkling of caster sugar then spread with Nestles tinned cream (if they still do it).

Grated Red Leicester with sliced pickled onions (must be Garners or homemade).

That does sound disgusting but if you mean sterilised cream, the one I remember was made by Carnation, I would never put it in a sandwich but eating it straight out of the tin, is a yes!


Cheese and onion crisp sandwich, it doesn't matter if the bread is white or brown but it can't contain grains and it has to be butter not a spread! I don't consider that weird though.

I couldn't do it now, but in the 1950's my mum's Saturday tea (after a Goldstone visit) was either banana (mashed with sugar) or condensed milk sandwiches. But do bear in mind the scarcity of this strange fruit called a banana in those days!

Likewise you can get 2x Chicago Town Mini Pizzas and put some filling in-between (I suggest some salad). Very controversial.

You don't know what you are missing out on. Best lunch possible if out in the countryside working for the day - one sandwich keeps you going till tea-time (that's tea, as in dinner - I've become northern since moving up here).

My sister's invention and just so odd that I ate the whole thing and even years later I'm still unsure whether I enjoyed it or if it caused some kind of Stockholm sandwich syndrome.

In days of yore, it was very common to eat bread and dripping.
Lets think about this for a moment, dripping, pure fat, for you kids that is the same as spreading lard on your sandwich only thicker and more greasy.
I can't imagine what that must have felt like in the mouth and after.

This makes me think of a debate me and a group of friends always seem to have when we chat, what defines a sandwich? Is a hotdog a sandwich? How about a wrap? Does it have to be slices of bread to define a sandwich? If so, would you not say a Subway is a sandwich? What is it that makes it a sandwich We never get a concrete answer, but wondered what you all think!

One of my favourites is mashed potato, with lots of salt, black pepper and brown sauce on brown bread. Mrs Gwylan thinks it's disgusting (as did the ex Mrs G) but it's food for the gods

I had a sausage and mash sandwich at the weekend and yes the mash works particularly well, the wife had fish finger and mash and liked it but she was hammered so her opinion doesn't count as a food critic.

Granulated sugar sandwiches were my favourite as a kid.

When I was a kid we used to go to my Grandparents every Saturday afternoon ( long before I was able to go to the footie ). For tea my Grandmother would always make us half a plate of golden granulated sugar sandwiches on white sliced bread and lashings of butter. The other half of the plate had the sugar replaced with condensed milk. I really can't imagine why I, my brother and my sister never slept on a Saturday night !
