If he's any good, I might get Golds(t)on(e) on the back of a shirt. How much do the club charge for brackets?

Hi Brighton Fans, I am obviously a Shrewsbury fan.

Congratulations on signing Connor Goldson, our loss is most certainly your gain.

You have got yourselves a really bright prospect, he is quick, very strong, good aerially and shows superb leadership qualities, basically he is a really good defender. Not just that, he has terrific composure and will always look to bring it out from the back and play football.

I was quite pleased to see him sign for your lot, I really can't stand QPR so it would've been a bit gutting see him go there.

Goldson is most definitely ready for Championship football now and he will be a terrific buy for you.

Good luck this season and I will be keeping an eye on how he does. P.S does anyone know the fee? I'm expecting £750k-£1m with a sell on clause.

Does sound like Dunk is off now

"We were not aware of Brighton’s interest before the start of the week, and it was Connor declared himself unfit for selection on Monday evening"

Shrewsbury Town can confirm that defender Connor Goldson has completed a move to Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old, who joined Town at 14 years of age, was offered his first professional contract with the Club midway through his youth scholarship.

Goldson, who was the longest-serving player at the Club before completing a move to Brighton, made 107 appearances in total for the Shrews, scoring eight goals.

The centre-back enjoyed two promotions with Shrewsbury from League Two to League One - one last season and one in the 2011/12 campaign.

Last season, Goldson won the Player of the Year and Player's Player of the Year awards at Shrewsbury Town and was also named in the 2014/15 PFA Team of the Year for League Two.

Shrewsbury Town's chief executive Matt Williams said: "I think the deal we’ve got is in the best interests of Shrewsbury Town and it helps the player to establish himself further up the ladder before we get there.

"From the Club’s point of view you always want the best possible deal for the club and I believe we have got that.

"We were not aware of Brighton’s interest before the start of the week, and it was Connor declared himself unfit for selection on Monday evening.

"We would have liked him to have been available for the Chesterfield game but these things happen in football.

"It’s a credit to the Club that he came through the youth team here to cut his teeth in the professional game.

“It just shows if you have skill, the right work ethic and make the right decision you will ultimately get your rewards.

"He leaves with our best wishes and thanks."

Shrewsbury Town would like to thank Connor for his fantastic service to the Club over the years and wish him all the best for the next chapter of his career.

The fee has been kept quiet but I'd say around 1 million is about right

Thank you for the nice words. We obviously know it's crap seeing your best players leave.

Looking at Wikipedia, he's a professional SNAKE who plays for Brighton and Hove Albion. Be warned Mr Bloom, Snakes eat Lizards.

Thanks for coming on here with your info, nice to see a good opinion, often when a favourite leaves they get a very negative review. Best to you as well.

Godson and Dunk is what it should be.
Greer will be finished before the end of the season with his knees.
So we keep an ageing defender and let Dunk go.
We will be asking ourselves the same questions as now having let Elphick, Cook and Hall go.

Excellent addition. So pleased to see how much better recruitment is. Someone like CG wouldn't have been on Burke's wayward radar in a million years.

Also looks like CH is a man with a long term plan. This season we needed leadership, physicality and guile and I think we have all of those with the added bonus of longevity in many of our purchases. Loving it.

With Rea going out on loan, the prospect next season could be Uwe, Godson with Rea as back up.
