I don't have an issue as such with his extradition. The thing that worries me is that the treaty is weighted in the USA's favour very heavily. Also 60 years for hacking is far too long.

of course it is weighted in america's favour, everything is.We pay congestion charges for our diplomats in Washington AND New York, the yanks claim diplomatic immunity in London.
And we fought the American war of Oil Dependance in Iraq so we could spend a fortune on regime change.the yanks spent a fortune so a few friends of George Bush could make shed loads of cash out of the war.

To be fair, its not just the American embassy that refuses to pay the congestion charge.

The guys done the crime. He needs to face up to the fact that he shouldn't have done it and will be punished for it.

I thought Leek's link would have showed some of the people we haven't extradited due to human rights, but it didn't.

you do know that he hasnt actually been convicted or sentanced yet, right? who knows, he might have got a better prospect if he had gone quietly (again he does admit it, so will be presumably pleading guilty). and heres a subtle point thats missed: he broke the f***ing law. get off the damn high horse about the treaty, thats all just Daily Mail spin.

He has a learning disability, has never been to the US and committed his "crime" in the UK. Any government with a speck of pride or self-respect would have told the Yanks to go f*ck themselves.

USA
why don't we just join the USA and get it over with, this sad attempt of trying to pretend to be independent from them is laughable at best.

Asperger's is not learning disablity (quite the contrary) its a mental disoder where the affect lack empathy, social and communication skills. He commited a crime in both jurisdictions.

So you think 60 years for hacking into a computer system and leaving a note saying your security isn't very good is justice?
Whereas if he was convicted here he'd get 1 year. And who has been harmed, who has suffered from this, who has scars for life from this, who is losing out, i'll tell you it's not the computer system, it's not the american government or it's people. No one has suffered apart from McKinnon. But 60 YEARS! You're having a laugh.

But it's not Daily Mail spin ( they may have jumped on the bandwagon - I don't know as I don't read it ). The burden of proof / evidence the Americans are required to provide to get someone is far less then what we're required to provide to "get" one of them.
