[Albion] Club cancelling ST due to non-attendance

f*** it, I’ll type it again.

There’s nothing more to it.

I showed some sympathy - probably on the other thread - if what your mate is saying is absolutely true. I also suggested that if he didn't get anywhere with supporter services that he take it up as a formal complaint and with more senior officials.

All you've been saying is that you've heard from your mate again who just seems to want to slag off the club without giving any detail re what was discussed.

I don't think saying "there's nothing more to it" is going to stop people wondering what has really gone on ... until people get bored ... like I have.

I was posting at the same time as you, see my other reply 👍🏻

My friend has just added
“Makes me sad the club I love have become the corporate machine and we are purely a seat number. They have been so unapologetic it’s unbelievable.”
And just for balance, as I have previously stated, me and my family have had two very shitty situations to deal with over the past few years, which impacted our STs and game attendance, and had levels of service well beyond what was expected and beyond the club’s official processes. I really felt the club had our backs both times; the club might be a corporate machine in one sense, but they are certainly human in another. I’m not one for sucking up to the club but it is only fair they are praised when they do well.

He knows he must list his ticket on the exchange even if it’s a last minute change of circumstance, he failed to do so twice IIRC.
You can take his comments however you like as it’s perfectly viable that two people may have received completely different levels of service.
Quite honestly it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks. He knows what has happened, he knows how he’s been dealt with by the club.
I’ve posted countless times that there’s nothing more to the story, my friend has given his most recent and likely final update.
OK so this is nothing like the case Bozza posted on Facebook.

Apologies.

If your pal failed to list his ticket only twice then he has been horribly mistreated.

Apologies again if I mixed up the two cases. I assume your mate is not the person who had been emailed by the club for failing to attend. They would hardly do that if he missed only two matches.

I am assuming that he had not listed his ticket on other occasions. I am assuming therefore he normally attends rather than listing his ticket.
If he does normally list his ticket maybe there is a limit on the number of times a ticket can be listed and this, coupled with a couple of recent complete non uses of the ticket, pushed the club over the edge.

Whatever the situation all you mate needs to do is cite (with member details) a couple of people who have missed the same or a greater number of games without listing their ticket as he has, yet who have not been warned or had the ticket sold. He can argue arbitrary and prejudicial behaviour by the club which has chosen to treat him differently from other supporters.

Again, apologies for my conflating two different people with a somewhat different set of circumstances.

It was sold out, wasn't it? Or close?

There were definitely 1500+ season ticket holders who decided they had better things to do, were working etc, and put their tickets on the exchange.

Would be an interesting venn diagram showing these folk and the people who complain about the club's rules....
The capacity would have been reduced due to segregation issues I would imagine.

Your other point: indeed.

@Harry Wilson's tackle ... original post below which does confirm attempted contact and email in junk box. If it was me and I'd failed to list my ticket on just two occasions with legitimate reasons, I would take this up the chain if I wasn't getting a decent response from supporter services. The only 'limit' on listing tickets is that you must personally attend at least 25% of games - otherwise your renewal the following season might be in jeopardy. But that's for next season - which makes this whole saga a bit bizarre and is why I would pursue it further.

Hi, I’m posting this on behalf a friend.

My friend has been a season ticket holder since day 1 at the Amex, this season he’s struggling to attend every fixture due to providing childcare for his two children. He received an email from the club advising that his Brentford and Everton tickets had been sold which came as a surprise as they weren’t listed as he was planning on attending those fixtures. He duly logged on to find all remaining qualifying fixtures on the ticket exchange. He spoke to supporter services and they claimed that they’d made multiple attempts to contact him to advise of their intentions. He found one email in his junk box. He’s been told if he wishes to attend the Brentford and Everton games he needs to buy an additional tickets.

Does this seem right? Feels a little unfair to me.

Thanks. Yes, I see. Yes, absolutely should be taken further. Sounds like a massive cock up on the club's part........ and I am very surprised the club emailed after just two absences.

As I noted earlier in among my otherwise confused narrative, all the person needs to do is provide details of a couple of people who have failed to attend on two occasions without listing their ticket this season, and without being sent warning emails, and the club would have to recant.

The Mixed Metaphor Police are on the line, raising a red flag.
Thanks. I will go back and replace 'pinch' with 'spoonful'.

I feel ashamed for having raised a red flag to the bull of a mixed metaphor.

I had a hip replacement three weeks ago meaning I missed the Palace and Brentford matches and out of caution I got in touch with the club to tell them the tickets were going on the ticket exchange (plus moving me to a lower tier seat for the Arsenal match). They couldn't have been more helpful.

If you do have a medical condition stopping you attending matches then just get in touch with the club.
What was the hip replacement?

Recently I got myself fitted with new blue eyes. The old brown ones were so last year.

Soon I'm having a replacement Shatner's Bassoon.

(Sorry couldn't resist. Must be the weather. On a serious note the club switched me to the wheelchair pen and found adjacent tickets for Mrs T and the nipper for a match after I had knee surgery some years ago. And the countless times I have phoned or emailed about Old Man problems, mostly of my understanding, that have patiently and kindly resolved all my woes.)

Yet we can’t sell out a game against Palace
I don't think Palace is the must see fixture that it used to be. As I said I had to miss the home game for medical reasons but I abandoned the away fixture years ago as it is more hassle than it's worth.

Plus a lot of the newer Amex era fans might not have been brought up with the rivalry and are used to us playing the likes of Man U, Arsenal, etc.

There is no pleasing some, everything would change when we moved to the Amex and many other things have to change again once in the Premier League quite a lot mandatory.

Still if you don't want to watch some fantastic opposition, a season in Europe and players we are purchasing for north of £40m now perhaps being a season ticket holder is not for you.
Until the Bloom family is making millions in profit instead of ploughing investment that runs to the hundreds of millions (that they may never see back), I just can’t pass off the sort of judgement that implies that they are looking to screw fans out of every penny rather than just enforcing a strategy that sees the most bums on seats giving more people an opportunity to witness this fantastic team at first hand in the middle of their most successful period in history.

Your point about the hardcore fan base , and clubs respect for it is an interesting one given our history and nobody really knows what might happen if results went south.
But if you’re now saying - that actually there’s a lack of demand for Albion games today - um . (Palace sold out by the way - it did last year as well)

I believe Shatner’s Bassoon is a mental condition which alters one’s perception of time, there was of course, the famous case where a victim was run over by a bus as he believed he had 3 months in which to cross the road. How can you have a “replacement” for this?

Couldn't agree more, but there have been a number of 'emergencies', ranging from collecting a sick grandson from a party, to getting a phone call from the wife to say her car had broken down to myself collapsing on the floor where contacting the club or listing my ticket was the last thing on my mind!

No, it's the part of the brain that deals with time perception.

It is easily accessible via hippocampus, which is the imaginary part of the brain.

Anyone would think you have spent the day on dimesmeric andersonphosphate. Again

Yes but not all three in close temporal proximity, with no opportunity to do a bit of precautionary after-timing with the club betweentimes.

(And frankly, only collapsing on the floor is a genuine reason for not attending. It is in my house, anyway  )

Until I hear a full explanation on this from the club, I absolutely fail to believe that the club are taking action like this for missing a few games during this season.

Posters will naturally defend their mates, and that's fine, but there's absolutely going to be scepticism amongst some of the rest of us because it just doesn't add up.

1) Instruct child to moderate the jelly, ice-cream and fizzy pop. A valuable life lesson.
2) Text her the AA/RAC number.
3) Fair enough.

Palace was the lowest attendance of our league games this season.

Yet another example of the club treating fans like kids. It's disgusting they do this. Just call the fan if they haven't attended and maybe check in to see if they are OK before pulling the plug as they could be having a horrible time and not be in the right head space to let the club know. Why we have to is beyond me.
